In on one, my 1911's dont have many rounds on them. Always wanted a RRA 1911

Well, my IDPA gun has at least 60k rounds through it.
It's a Norinco that I customized. I clean it about every 1,000 rounds; or so. It has been flawless since I started competing with it, monotonously so. I've changed an extractor and sear and recoil springs, "just because". |

I have a old Kimber Classic Custom I have put 75,000+ rounds through and I bought it used..
It rattles like a bitch but it still shoots. |

I just hit 2500 on my Springfield loaded I got a few months ago.
I've had 4 malfunctions from 2 $8 mags from the cmp. They were also with wolf ammo if that matters. They rest of the case worked fine. They got trashed. The other 8 work fine and my CMC and Wilson mags have all been perfect |
|
I have probably 10k through mine over the course of 12 years. I highly doubt I have the most on this forum, though.

30k. Just got refinished. I don't seem to have the 1911 problems you keep having. ETA: based on your photo, the 1911 you posted looks like an RIA, not an RRA. |

Supposedly the Henderson Defense guy says that the Rock Rivers are one of their more reliable 1911s View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

The government 45 I built earlier this year has about 1k rounds through it with zero issues after I fixed its tendency to double tap ( I don't yet have the skills to get my trigger pull to 1.5lbs so I'll stick with 3.0)

@cavgunner used one during his stint in the Calvary. I'll bet its loose as a goose

You've changed them once? That's not all that different than my old glock 19, which broke a locking block and wore out an extractor View Quote I changed the springs at roughly 10,000 round intervals. BTW, You should see the end of the slide. As I have aged, my eyes have gone to pot and I am now working on the third front sight. The current one is one of those acrylic pipe affairs. Anyway, every time I've changed the sight, I've had to weld up and recut the front dovetail. The dovetail has been smaller every time, requiring a weld up and recut. |

I've had a couple Baer TRS'd Rebuilt and refinished and about to send a third in.

I've got numerous 1911s with 10s of thousands of rounds through them. They're mainly used as bullseye guns or service pistol guns. The only parts I've had break are hammer struts and springs iirc.
Rock River put 1911s on hold to cater to the crazy AR demand during 0's reign. They're building guns again. Rock Island is at an entirely different spot on the 1911 curve. |
|
I swapped the front black sight on my RIA Tac with a fiber optic one from Dawson Precision, they have a cut specifically for RIA. Fit like a glove, and much improved over the stock one. Only cost like $35 or so too.
ETA: for the thread, about 300 through my RIA, 100 through my Sig Tacops. So neither are broken in really. Both have been excellent so far, Wilson 47Ds for the mags. |

I have a Kimber BP 10 (think love child of a glock and 1911) that ran flawless for about 6K rounds....
I decided to have the slide cerakoted and it started having FTF issues until I removed the cerakote from the bolt face. The smith thought it was just a finicky 1911....oh well. I love that stupid gun. |
|
I have at least 20,000 rounds through my Kimber Desert Warrior.
But Kimber's are garbage bla, bla, bla.... |
|
I was burning up 1000 rounds a month for idk 3 years straight shooting 1 club night a week ad 1 saturday a month

Had over 100k through my STI 2011 .40. Had to put a barrel in it last year. Still going. On it's 3rd set of sights, fire control parts, guide rod.

@ 28k through my Norinco. Changed recoil springs a couple of times and replaced the extractor once.
Shoots anything from 200gr truncated to 230jhp. Good gun |
|
I had a Colt Series 80 Stainless Steel one that reached a little over 20k rounds in 7 years. I replaced the recoil spring (16 lb.) every 3k rounds and the firing pin spring every 6k rounds.
During the time I had it the front sight broke off 6 times and finally I dovetailed the slide to fit an after market front sight. The extractor had to be replaced 3 times The slide stop broke around 4k mark The thumb safety broke around 6k mark My Kimber reached 30k rounds last year and only part that I had replaced was the front/rear sight to Heinie fixed sights just because I could see them a little better. I replaced the recoil spring (16 lb.) every 3k rounds and the firing pin spring every 6k rounds. I had replaced the main spring with Wolff spring of standard weight. |

My Springfield Armory 45 acp started out as military version. Did all sorts of upgrades to it after trading for in 28 years ago. About the only thing I haven't modified on it is the firing pin. Current slide is an Auto Ordnance. I cut back the original slide to Commander length for a compensated barrel way back before USPSA had different divisions for guns. Still have that slide and run it with a bull barrel at times. Round count on this one is at least 50k. Only broken part was an extractor.
Rock Island is a 9mm I bought used 2 years ago. Use it for 3 Gun now (got tired of 8 shots and a reload). Have 5k rounds through it so far. Minimal mods on this one. Tightened the slide/frame fit, worked over the trigger, reshaped and polished the feed ramp, and then put non-skid tape on the grips. Do have have about 30 rounds through the 22 TCM barrel that came with it. |
|
I have no idea what the round count is in my Kimber ultra carry II, but I just confirmed that another 100 rounds went down range. I have had a bad magazine, but that's not the gun's fault. I love this gun!

I have 2 1911s that I used for 12 years straight for USPSA, bowling pin, and steel shooting, 15k to 25k each a year.
I had them rebuild every year, barrel, springs, triggers, and I still broke parts every year(comps would crack, plunger tubes, recoil guides, etc.). Comp 38 supers shooting 150gr + weigh loads are pretty soft shooting(172gr lead for pins). My 5 inch 45 didn't see the round count, so it only got the rebuild every 3 years :) Probably have 6 1911 frames with 100k+ rounds fired(over 30 years) Glocks(used for USPSA, IDPA, Pins, and steel guns), when they start to get fickle. I'd sell and buy a new one, way cheaper than maintaining a 1911, lol I just shoot them all stock(But big fan of aftermarket mag springs and heavy base pads!!!)! This season I've switched to the M&P 9mm v2.0( I like the ergo's), the glocks rocked, will see how the M&P goes long term. |
|
My RIA Full size is at approx 3500 rounds in the last two months since I bought it used for $100. I love it, and am looking to expand my 1911 collection to higher end manufacturers and setups.
Shooting 1911s has renewed my interest in handgun shooting (outside of ccw). |
|
I have a 1940s something Ballester-Molina. Quite well worn, no idea what is has been through.
I do believe the C&R guys are going to win this round count.. |
|
|
It's an antique. If everything is not finely tuned you get malfunctions. Not surprising.
|
|
I have a Kimber Custom Classic with around 6K through it. Flawless.

|
My IDPA/L10 USPSA gun has upwards of 75k on it. I put 50k through it and it was loose and the trigger was getting inconsistent. Then had it rebuilt, the only thing original is slide, frame and barrel. Then put another 25k through it before I pretty much quit shooting competitively. Ive probably not put 2,000 through it in the last 5 years. I used the ends of primer boxes to count rounds for years. Basically wallpapered a room with them at a time that I only had one pistol that took large pistol primers so the count is fairly accurate.
It started life as a Les Baer with a Kart barrel, still shoots very very well and fits my hand like nothing else. |

I have about 1,500 rounds through my RIA 1911.
I built a Caspian up and have about 600-700 rounds through it so far. The RIA has never even burped but the Caspian gave me fit at the beginning. I have since fixed the issues and it works great now. I also have an old SA loaded, I think I bought it in the 80's. It has a boat load of rounds through it but I don't shoot it much. To many sharp edges. |
|
I have a couple over 100k rounds easily, and a few more close to it. 40 years of carry, classes (teaching and learning), competition and just plain old burning ammo will do it.
|
|
I think I have 14,000 rounds on my SACS built Colt O1991A1.
0 malfunctions thus far. Checkmate 7RD wadcutter mags. |
|
Ed Brown Special Forces
Ran it in USPSA for a bit. Over 15k rounds. Sold it for $50 less than I paid for it |
