The sexagenarian rocker, estimated to be worth $300million (£235million), filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office last Friday (9th June) attempting to trademark ownership of the gesture.
Gene – real name Chain Witz - claims that the ‘sign of the horns’ or ‘devil horns’ originates specifically from the band’s Hotter Than Hell tour in 1974. Link I wonder what Gene will give me for horn infringement |

I invented the middle finger and thumbs up.
Anytime you use these you have to buy me a membership. |

Okey Dokey there Gene...
Good Luck with THAT... Guess trying to stay "Relevant" and "In The News"... eh?? |
|
Ronnie James Dio would disagree. He said it was something his Italian grandma used to do to them when they were kids. Gene is a great marketer though, I'll give him that.

Hmmm. I should patent "The Shocker". I've been laying two in the pink one in the stink since 1987 and pretty sure it's my invention.

Same again. Is Gene running out of money or something?

Chaim Witz.... the fuck is a chain witz? sounds like a cheese snack.

Gene's version has thumbs out which is different than the gypsy evil eye ward off sign that Dio used.

He is a colossal asshole. An entertaining asshole but an asshole nonetheless.

He's doing it wrong. Saw Metallica last week, nobody did it Chain's way.

Some of the people in the Bible sure dodged a bullet! Noah, Lot, Joshua........Chaim.....no no Chaim in any of the chapters.

I always assumed they copied the horns from the Italians who have been using them for well over 2000 years to variously denote the devil and cornuto (cuckolding).
But whatever, he might as well try to trademark the middle finger. |

The ‘devil horns’ in rock originated with Black Sabbath - Ozzie, Terry "Geezer" Butler, Ronny James Dio, not a joke. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/91/2a/a8/912aa8ff0bc2a138d69b2a6f776a106c.jpg Terry Butler did it back in 1971. View Quote |

Rub those fingers over your cheek and you create the 'Italian Malachio (malooch) Curse'.

Go away Gene!
No one liked kiss then, no one likes kiss now. |

I thought stuff like that got shot down by the courts?
I remember a big thing about it getting shot down when Paris Hilton tried to trademark "That's Hot" and they told her to piss up a tree. |

Ask Apple how well their trademark for App worked out... Or Beyer and Aspirin... Or Heroin. |

Israeli-born tech entrepreneur Moti Shniberg, founder of the Artist Pension Trust, had a different reaction: He leapt into action to trademark the term “SEPTEMBER 11, 2001.” |
