Update 10/30/17:

Potential removal of suppressor language
https://www.eenews.net/stories/1060064863

Excerpts from the article

According to Duncan, there are several options including dropping the silencer provision altogether and replacing it with other gun language. He said one idea could add language that would ban or require more stringent licensing for buying bump stocks, a plastic attachment added to semiautomatic weapons that allows them to fire far more rapidly.
View Quote
Duncan said it was too soon to say what compromises would be worked out, but he also said he is working to correct "misinformation" spread about the bill that has even made some moderate Republicans uneasy about voting on it. He said he would like the final package to contain the silencer provisions, some language on bumpstocks and national reciprocity."
View Quote
Jeff Duncan is the bill's sponsor and needs to hear from "sportsmen" that we will not accept a neutured bill that removes the suppressor deregulation language from the bill.

FIREMISSION
Contact Speaker Ryan HERE to urge him to bring the SHARE Act to a full vote in the house.

Contact your rep HERE to urge them to support the SHARE Act.

ETA: Here's a direct link to the bill (thanks jmhal)

Passed committee, here's a link to an article about it. SHARE Act Passage

Link to most viewed bills in the House. As of 9/27, HPA was #2 and SHARE was #3. Link

This link brings you to the bill itself (the text is not currently online however). Cicking this link apparently affects the "most viewed" link above, which is updated every Monday.

TITLE XVIII—LAWFUL PURPOSE AND SELF-DEFENSE
Sec. 1801. Short title.
Sec. 1802. Elimination of authority to reclassify popular rifle ammunition as
‘‘armor piercing ammunition’’.
Sec. 1803. Elimination of restrictions on importation of non-National Firearms
Act firearm or ammunition that may otherwise be lawfully possessed
and sold in the United States.
Sec. 1804. Protection of shotguns, shotgun shells, and large caliber rifles from
arbitrary classification as ‘‘destructive devices’’.
Sec. 1805. Broadening of the temporary interstate transfer provision to allow
temporary transfers for all lawful purposes rather than just for
‘‘sporting purposes’’.

What does it do? Give me a boner

No more sporting clause for importation
No more ATF rulings on ammo
No more restricting ammo from importation
No more over .50 caliber = DD
That last one I'm hazy on, maybe buying handguns across state lines?

And with the HPA addition, reclassification of suppressors as Title I firearms.

I think it means Chinese (Norinco?) AK47's (Mak90's) and M1A's will be allowed to be imported again to the US.

I also think that that 5.45X39 ammo called 7N6 will be allowed to be imported again.

Maybe we can get Saiga 12s in an already converted over or non-sporterized versions??

I was under the impression that they rolled the HPA into the SHARE bill. So the HPA would pass with it.

Maybe I'm way off though.

But the prices will still be $800 or more because a tube with caps on the end is damn near impossible to manufacture.

Kind of like when people look at their paycheck-no one pays attention to all the taxes taken out, only what they are getting.

You won't though...Economies of scale much? The sheer number of suppressors that will flood the market and the innovation involved with new brands finding their market niche will make the floor fall out of the suppressor market.

I don't need SEAL Team Six cans if I can pick them up and leave with them.

Currently you are only allowed to temporarily loan a firearm to a resident of another state for a "sporting purpose". ATF has interpreted sporting purpose as traditional hunting and sport shooting (trap & skeet) purposes. They don't consider self protection, IDPA, 3gun, etc as a "sporting purpose"
