Do you have a large tarp?

I do.  But I don't think I'll use it.  There's nothing in the cab that can get ruined.

Why didn't you take the windshield and gasket out first?

good and sunny
once its cured for a bit your gold
short of wind blown objects damaging the paint

should have pulled the windshield or at the very least pulled the trim and gasket
when you replace that windshield I got a shiny $20 bill that says your gonna see a shitty paint edge because the new gasket isnt exactly like the old

newer vehicles you can get away with it... older ones with the trim built in... nope

This is a good question.  My plan is that when I do the other side of the cab to take the windshield out, repair any rust that might be under the  gasket, respray the entire cab and put a new windshield back in.

Obviously if I had a garage to work in I wouldnt do it that way but I'm trying to minimize the trashiness of painting my car in my  driveway.

Why red?  OP: do you have "flamboyant" tendencies?

Yeah but I'm  pretty sure that doesn't include sanding off the old paint.

I did my last welding truck in the driveway. Beautiful clear morning, no breeze. Unhooked the hose, walked inside to clean the gun and it started to rain! You could count the drops. Paint had a nice gloss and you really had to look to see the rain damage. Looked good from 10 feet and going down the road. Good enough for construction work!!
