The U.S. Navy took the nuclear bomb part ("physics package" in weapons speak ....) designed for the atomic round for this 11 inch cannon ....
... and designed a 16 inch nuclear round for the battleship cannons. The W23 Projectile had a yield of 15 - 20 kilotons, making the Iowa class the undisputed champion for baddest battleship. Only 50 were built.

Battleship rounds are impressive. Here's a magazine you can walk through on the USS Massachusetts.
They had an overhead rail system to transfer rounds between turrets incase any particular turret ran out.
