I have an Icom handheld that I really like.
It's an older one, but it does both Comm and Nav including localizer. |

My father has the Icom A14 and likes it. Does not have NAV though.
A adapter for your headset is a must. The A14 is pretty damn loud and was very hard to hear in the plane (tried it over the weekend) http://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/icom-ic-a14-com-transceiver.html |

Hard to beat Icom. Durable, the menus are easy to navigate, and they can usually have their memory banks set using software and a computer.
