Local guy has a an ACOG he wants to sell me for $500 $450 with negotiation. I contacted Trijicon with the serial, he had to go to OLD Excel spreadsheets to find the the date. it's a 2003. Local guy says its still usable at dusk and tritium is still "60%" bright. Comes with box and paperwork. I would throw this on my M16A4 build.

I would get it. And it's only a couple hundred bucks to get the tritium recharged.

You should get it, but if you don't, please let me know, as it's kinda what I've been looking for.

I was wondering that too, but it looks like it's bolted from underneath?

Buy it. But ask about the original mount. He just has it sitting on top of that FAL.

Edit: He probably drilled through that aftermarket top cover to mount it to get it lower.

I've had better deals on ACOGs, but the price seems ok in today's market.
TA51 mounts are cheap and available because they're usually sold for something better.

I don't understand why you would do that. Newish ACOGs pop often on EE for the $800ish mark.

DSA used to offer their top cover milled for direct attachment of an ACOG. That appears to be the case here.

Check with Trijicon on the price to refurb. If memory serves me correctly, it's more like $400 to get new tritium, because they do a complete rebuild. You're into new ACOG price range then.

If you get it without a mount, I have some thumbscrew mounts that I'd be willing to give away for free.

Unless you're in the panhandle of ID, then I'd require that you check my trail cams and send me the memory cards.

You are assuming a straight line decrease, ie: that 50% less tritium equals 50% less visible illumination.

In practice, it doesn't work that way.

One thing I just noticed, is that modern, brand new Acogs, have less tritium than the old ones.

The Brand new one I looked at yesterday, was less bright than my old one, which I've had 12 years.    Can anyone explain that?      Did the government crack down on the Tritium?

Google it up.   People are saying they were quoted ~$470ish.   $190 is very much on the low end.    Seems to be a sliding scale.

Anytime you can get an ACOG that cheap, you get the damn ACOG.

And as said, if you don't, share the contact, because I would get it.
