based on this question which I think is obvious, got me thinking about this one.
IS this turn legal where YOU live. You are driving NB and going to be turning WB (left) at the red light. Can you legally turn left on the red light onto the WB one way street. Attached File Click To View Spoiler Oregon Revised Statue The driver of a vehicle, subject to this section, who is intending to turn at an intersection where there is a traffic control device showing a steady circular red signal, a steady red bicycle signal or a steady red arrow signal may do any of the following without violating ORS 811.260 (Appropriate driver responses to traffic control devices) and 811.265 (Driver failure to obey traffic control device): (a) Make a right turn into a two-way street. (b) Make a right or left turn into a one-way street in the direction of traffic upon the one-way street. * IBTP , yeah I dont know how to make it so I didnt ** you should be able to add a poll before you submit a post |

I don't think so, but the only places near me with roads like that are Minneapolis and St. Paul, and I don't go there.
Lots of roundabouts popping up around me though... |
In most states you can only turn left on red from a oneway street to a one way street. Looks like there are four exceptions
IIRC legally we can turn left on red only if both streets are one way.
If no one is there though... |
I *think* in TX a left on red is only legal if both streets are one way. So in your diagram it would not be legal but if the NB street was one way then it would be. But I could be wrong.

Who cares? Check for cops, then go for it and DO NOT cause a wreck. Take your hand off your peepee, put your phone down, and engage yourself. The people tripping up over this stuff are government employees trying to justify their existence.

Yes, left on Red is legal in Oklahoma, but only at the intersection of two one-way streets.
No, NY is one way to one way only. I don't really see a problem with it from a two-way to one way, there's just as much traffic to watch for as when you make a left turn onto a two-way from a two-way stop/T-intersection.
In Idaho you can only turn left on a red if you're in a one way turning into another one way.
You can left on red in Texas only if going from one way to one way. If your NB roadway was one way then yes you can.
Red means stop.
No left turn red in Texas Yellow and green, good to go |

no, you are crossing southbound traffic. |
Don't have any one lane roads with traffic lights around here.
It appears to be legal though. |
No, left turn on red from a 2-way street, regardless of the street the driver is turning onto, is illegal.
If the northbound street was 1-way also, then the left on red would be legal. |
I've never seen any road that allows left turn on red. That just seems really dumb.
Yes, on a one way street. No different than a right turn on red.
When my aunt leaned that a left turn on red after a stop was legal if the turn was onto a one way street she decided to share with everyone she knew.
So yes, it is a legal turn provided the driver stops at the red light first and the westbound lane is clear. |
Not when I took driver's ed in WA. IIRC the only "free left" is if both streets are one way (left curb lane to left curb lane).
I'm a Free Man traveling on the land. I do not wish to create joinder!!
we can turn left on red, from a one way street, onto another one way street. obviously, there aren't very many of these situations to deal with. this should be common sense, but sitting behind some retard who refuses to turn left on red, proves otherwise.

Come to Alpine Texas you can drive how ever the fuck you want. Down the one way going the wrong way, no problem mon!
In Florida you can make a left turn on a red, if you are turning onto a one way street. Provided there is no oncoming traffic and you stop first.
This sounds like one of the scenarios where I would play it safe and just wait for the green light. Fuck the annoyed impatient jackwagons behind me honking their honks and shouting "GO!!" out their windows.

No. From a one way onto a one way is GTG. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Michigan State Police Sgt. Mike Church says: ” Here's what the law allows: “A motorist may turn FROM either a one-way or a two-way street ONTO a one-way street that travels in the same direction as the turn.”
So, basically, vehicles are allowed to turn onto a one-way. |

Left on Red?? WTF??
New Jersey is bad enough with their "jug handles" to go left. And now this???? |
Oregon is FUBAR.
A driver can't pump their own gasoline, Right turns on red are illegal, Left on red (onto one-way) is permitted. Oregon is retarded. I hate Oregon. |
Nope, here you can turn left on red only if you're on a one-way street and you're turning onto a one-way street, and it's not posted that it's verboten.
Good, because I occasionally do that downtown after work.
