It will be nice to see one flying again.

The articles says one of Howard Pardue’s cats was used as a donor. Anyone know if that was Rare Bear?

RareBear is owned by Rod Lewis. Howard died in his Bearcat.

Nice, I'm into Ellington every few months and would love to see this bird tearing up the pattern. TFLM is a terrific organization and they have been extremely generous with their time and hanger when I've stoppped by.

As these never saw much (if any) combat in US hands, it ought to be painted in the colors of the Armee de L'Air's 1/22 Groupe de Chasse "Saintonge". This was one of the squadrons that provided support to the garrison at Dien Bien Phu, and six F8F Bearcats from it were based there for a short while. The French used these aircraft to good effect as fighter-bombers against the Viet Minh in Indochina.

Rare Bear, and 232, are both still sitting in the hanger at Reno/Stead without working engines.
Rod Lewis is going through a very long and expensive divorce case and most of his projects are on hold.
