Why did they search him on a traffic stop for possibly speeding?

Just protecting and serving.

At least those weapons of war are removed from our streets.

Does he have history? Would be really messed up to screw up his life with a B.S. charge.

I'll bet the first one is classified as a punch dagger. Illegal, but shouldn't be... not if I get to parry with sword and shield... or semi automatic pistol.

It should be illegal for politicians to have any kind of armed guard.  A phone only do they can call for help.  Cops also need to leave  their guns locked up at work when they are off duty.

I wonder what the most effective improvised weapon one could have in their car would be, that would also have a plausible explanation for being there.

Would be handy to have it pre-decided in case you ever have to venture into commie territory.

When police pulled the bike over near exit 12, troopers say the operator was in possession of illegal weapons and a subsequent search found a small bat with spike strips and a knife.

I keep a small 'scout' axe in the car.

Nope, we only specifically ban by length and double edge to paraphrase. Technically that knife is legal. The issue is we have a "general" dangerous weapons statute. There is case law including toothbrushes, garden hose, and such. So it's really whatever amount of risk exposure you're comfortable with. I'm guessing he hasn't a rap sheet, and not a CCW and a pistol IWB. Not that it makes it ok, but that's why he was probably treated that way.
