Bought one used for a song and a dance. Haven't gotten it yet though.

It doesn't look very beat up, the guy said when you plug it in and hit the switch nothing happens.

I guess the first place to look is the switch, and then the brushes. What are common failures with these things? A friend of mine has a Makita that is similar in design and has had to replace the switch on it 2 times already, so I would guess they are a big failure point.

Grabbed one after your rental dilemma the other day?

Nothing to add but I love your threads. Keep up your hard work.

Ha.

Yeah, I would rather have one tucked into the barn for next time instead of that shit again.

Didn't wan to pay full retail though. I figured for 2 bills if I can't get this one to work I can just resell it for parts.

Was in that business years ago.
Switch
Cord
Armature/coil

Check that the striker is not jammed also. Seals are not reusable.

"The tool employs Bosch's Service Minder™ brushes, which stops the tool when preventative maintenance is needed."

This plus brushes and an extra check on striker jam. If I remember correctly if you lay it on it's side for an extended period it can seize up. The Brute should be stored vertically in the cart.

I sold the one I had and the guy called me raising he'll saying it doesn't work. He didn't know that the bit had to have pressure on it to work.

I think it might be the brushes. I am getting a good voltage reading at the connection for them with the switch on.

I wish I had a local place to grab some, I'll have to order them.

Yup, flipped them around and it fired right up.

$10-$15 on ebay. I can live with that.
