I had surgery on my left shoulder (labrum) on the 5th and the first night i didn't sleep at all. Nights 2-4 sucked but I got a few hours rest, so I feel your pain OP.

It's my left elbow.... distal bicep tendon reatachment.

Did you have a nerve block?

I did and it sucked. It fucked up my eye and mouth for 12 hours, looked like I had a stroke.

I need to go back and get my left elbow (subluxation of ulner nerve) fixed after my shoulder is healed. I'm going to pass on the nerve block for that one.

How long did they say your recovery should be?

I was in once for a pancreattus. They were giving me the good shit. The only reason I could not sleep was the hospital bed was loud, and jerky when it cycled every 5 minutes to keep circulation going. I may have lied once or twice about my level of pain so I could get a few hours sleep. lol.

Oh and when they asked me what to write on the board about what I wanted to happen with my stay I answered "to leave with all the parts I came in with" The nurse laughed at that, then wrote it on the board.

I really believe they don't like you sleeping in the hospital. The 5am blood draws seem to support my theory. "dont wake up, we are just going to draw some blood" Right. I am fully awake after you stick a needle in me. Ugh.

No nerve block thankfully. Said full recovery will be 4-6 months

.... it's got to be immobilized for 6 weeks (therapy and shower are the only exceptions).

Coming along great... no more pain meds. But I still can't sleep good at all. I have to keep the brace on all the time (except shower and rehab) and I cannot stand sleeping on my back.

Only 5 weeks to go in this brace

Sounds good man.

I've got 4 more weeks in this sling. I'm supposed to wear it all the time but I only wear it if I go outside and when I sleep. I'm not a back sleeper either so I called my Doc for some more Ambien. It works great, maybe give it a try.

I tried to get my Surgeon to be a bit more agressive with my recovery but no luck. I can't start physical therapy until the sling comes off.
