but muh Remittances! I wonder how much of their economy comes from money sent back from the states? View Quote Lived in Guatemala by Mexican border for a few years. Can't count how many people I met who had been to the states for a few years working 2+ jobs and sent all their money back to set them up with a sweet house and truck. On guy worked 3 jobs (according to him) in places like a chicken processing plant. Anyway he didn't take a day off for like 5 years and he lived in a single wide with a bunch of other guys. He sent all his money he didn't use back home to a bank. When he left the states he took a few old school buses and a 90's Tacoma pickup. He now has a bus company and is set for life. I say deport them. They need us more than we need them |
|
Don't deport, just ban them in all states except California.
Sit back and watch the hilarity unfold. |

Oh we can suffer it. Guatemala needs their wonderfully productive good citizens back much more than we need them. Lets help el presidente out and send back his people. Doesn't he want his own cointry to have the GDP growth they would bring back? Surely it would be greater than the $7 bil. they get from us, right?

What is Guatemala going to do to stop us?
Maybe if we cut off their foreign aid they will stfu and stay in their lane. |

If I were Trump I'd put my foot so far up Guatamala's ass for this sort of "FUCK YOU" entitlement that they'd be left as a carcass by the watering hole to serve as a dire warning to all others. This is what 8 years of having a spineless Marxist pussy as our president get us. The world needs a reminder of who needs who around this fuckin planet. As for Guatamala? Are you kidding? Let them pay for part of the Mexican Trump Wall with taxes on those wire transfers.

No, too damn easy and too many loopholes. They'll steal people's SSNs, and leave them to pay the penalties. What they need to do is start tracking these fucks by the benefits they get, comparing them to the remittances, and then confiscating those remittances until they equal out to what they've taken in terms of tax dollars. The numbers don't add up, the way you're suggesting it be done--There's still a tremendous amount of American tax money being spent, taken from all of us, to subsidize this shit that's leaving us out of work and making less money. Why the hell are my local schools having to float bonds to pay for the remedial education a lot of the illegal's kids need? Why isn't that expense, taken out of my pocket, being accounted for with this bullshit? Seriously--You want to fix this shit? Fine, let's fix it, but let's do it by capturing the actual costs/benefits of all this "cheap labor". I guaran-damn-tee you that the only thing that's "cheap" about it is that we're not seeing the true costs of things, from across the board. Sure, the farmers are making out like bandits, 'cos in some cases they're paying a lot less to the illegals than they would have to pay an American, but... He's not the guy having to pay for them to live here in the off-season, he's not paying to educate their kids, he's not paying the health care costs for the families during the off-season, and on and on and on. We literally don't even know what these people cost us, in terms of the externalities. Sure, you think you're making a little more money with that questionable labor you're getting cheap, but... You're also getting your taxes jacked up, to pay for educating their kids, the percentage that is criminal, and a whole bunch of other stuff that never makes it anywhere near your accounting software. I say make all this crap legal, but also do away with birthright citizenship and all the rest. Look at the costs we're paying out, and if you're an illegal here in the US, making money to send home, sure... Send it home. But, first, let's take a look at what the American taxpayer is paying for you and your family to be here, undercutting our labor pool. If you ain't on the "profit" side of the balance sheet, too bad, too sad, your money ain't leaving, it's going straight to the US treasury. That way, if the illegal truly is of economic benefit, that's the only way they can afford to be here and send money back. The current setup is basically subsidizing the destruction of the American economy, long-term. Hell, we don't even have a good handle on what we're spending on these people, or what is being sent back home by them--It's nuts. You want an honest set of numbers so we can actually look at this shit, and talk about it? Good luck; we don't have 'em, and aren't even trying to get them. A lot of the cost to American taxpayers is hidden by all this shit; they need to seriously jack up the H1B tax rates, and do the same damn thing. I've heard complaints from laid-off US IT workers who were supporting a family, got replaced by Indian H1Bs that were living five-six to an apartment, and sending back most of their wages. The companies that were doing this were culpable, but the problem is also governmental--When you allow the tax base and housing base to get so far out of whack for the average American citizen that this kind of thing begins to make economic sense for those companies...? The whole basis for the equation needs to be changed. I don't disagree that perhaps the US has a responsibility to boost economies overseas--That's just good for all of us, creating stable, market-based modern economies. But, for the love of God, why the hell are we letting this idea get so far out of hand that we're creating our own little third world, here in the US? It isn't good for anyone, in the long haul. It was cheaper to import oil, until it wasn't. Technology filled the gap. Today it may be cheaper to hire immigrants. It may not be tomorrow. Power farming will fill the gap, as it has been doing for over a century. We had some H2A workers a couple years ago that had been picking corn by hand in Mexico before they came here. How much corn do you think is picked by hand in the United States? None is how much, aside from a few rows in gardens. View Quote |

Fuck you Guatemala. Give us shit and we'll stop buying your bananas, coconuts, and whatever else you export.
I used to work with a Chechen MANY MANY years ago (pre 9/11) that lived in a place that I would be surprised cost over $50 a month. No phone. Nothing extra. He would send every spare cent he made back to his Chechen buddies that were fighting Russia. I used to have fun whistling the Russian National Anthem while walking by. He hated Russians. He drive a new shitbox car every month because he would wreck them regularly. I'm pretty sure half of them were stolen. Used to have an entire Mexican family that cleaned our building. They sent a lot of money back to their family members still in Mexico. I have nothing against coming over and working, just sending the money abroad. |

You all aren't parsing what he actually said. Notice that at no point did he actually say "we're going to stop the daily planeloads of deportees". He said the US can't afford to report them. He's pandering to his domestic audience with this talk of legislation and presidential powers. It's all smoke and mirrors so he can tell tell his constituents how he stood up to the evil USA without actually getting aid cut off or suffering from actual sanctions.

I do not know how many Guats and El Sals I have come across on the ranch I live and work on that were turned over to CBP, its has to be in the hundreds over the years. Deport them all, no matter who or what they claim all of them have stood by and watched immoral deeds done or participated in them as they were illegally crossed the border

View Quote Oh please... First off, without foreign workers in the mix the farmers would have three choices... Pay Americans what it takes to get their crops picked, invest in machinery to do the picking for them (or make the harvesting easier), or switch to a different crop. And the excuse of having to hire illegals to stay competitive would go away. Maybe the price of strawberries would go up a couple dollars a pound, so what? And second, have you ever heard of "guest worker programs?" If we really, really do have to have third world laborers come into this country to do this kind of work then there are already programs to accommodate this. People come in after a reasonable background check. They don't have to use anyone's social security number because they are legally working. And, they leave when they are done. That way we aren't getting the criminals, rapists, and welfare deadbeats. The people aren't collecting welfare, they are just working. Hell, let's be all compassionate to these guest workers and give them a $25.00 minimum wage too. (Just for guest workers.) That wouldn't raise the price of strawberries that much, it would help the guest workers, and it would mean that domestic low skilled workers could compete. |
