Last year was next year.

I couldn't help start this thread, albeit early.  We're just 42 days from pitchers and catchers reporting to camp.

And in case you forgot...

Just stinks that the World Series champions are opening the season on the road at the home of their biggest rival.

Well the Twins have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs so we have that going for us.

Looking forward to the season. Although it seems like the Dbacks actually make moves to get worse.

The AL East should be interesting this year, hoping for a renewed Sox-Yanks rivalry of games that actually mean something.

Interested to see where McCrutchin and Quintana land here soon.

Spring training games are always awesome here in the Valley. Going to be a great year.

I'm just glad the John's didn't unload the farm for a Sale, Quintana, Archer type.

Stick with the plan.

Yeah, the new park plus the young, talented players makes for an intriguing season. Even if they are still a year or two away from the playoffs, Dickey or Colon could be dealt to contender near the trade deadline to get those missing pieces for 2018 and forward.

Even if the Braves don't finish with a winning record in 2017, it's just great to see them not making stupid decisions in the front office like the Mark Teixeira deal, Kenshin Kawakami signing, Dan Uggla deal, or BJ Upton signing.

As much as I loved Kimbrel as the closer, I wasn't a fan of the contract extension the Braves gave him in 2014. Saves are one of the most overvalued (monetary) stats in baseball and as long as Liberty Media owns the Braves, they're going to have to be smart with how they spend their money. The Kimbrel extension wasn't smart.

So the Encarnacion deal is final. That's huge. He's gonna fit in great here now that Napolis gone. Sucks Rajai Davis went to the As but wish him the best. He played great here last year.  Crisp is gone too. Hopefully Brantley will be back 100% and not turn into Sizemore part 2.

Gonna be be another fun one this year in CLE.

How do you figure? You lost Napoli and gained Encarnacion. That's not a huge upgrade. Seven hr's and a handful of rbi's is all you gained.  Rogers Center is a homer dome, will he hit that many in your park?

Also we'll see how E...n reacts to the muti  million dollar law suit against him by his friends daughter. She claims he gave her multiple STD's. The media will have a field day with that. It was a big story here.

EE was much more consistent all year. Napoli hit a bad slump in August and never shook it for the rest of the year. So that's what I'm hoping for with EE. A little more solid consistency fitting in to a pretty well rounded team to help pick up slack if Santana is having a bad night and vise versa.

Well, I'm looking forward to it. We have a shitty ball park and the best defensive CF'er in baseball

In all seriousness, I feel better about this years team than last. Added some help in the outfield and as long as recovery goes well the rays should hopefully have a catcher that has some offense.

Stay healthy and they should be able to compete as a David among many goliaths. Go Rays!

EE had great protection in the Jays batting order which helped his stats bigly. Don't know how that is going to work out in your batting order but I see a ton of walks in his future.

We usually found a way to beat him. A lot of times it was 1-0, but he was never a guaranteed win against us.

The White Sux have chosen to rebuild...again (I think this is 4 years running now). They will probably finish in 4th place again.

This is Trevor Hoffman's second year isn't it? So probably next year then.

I knew Pudge would be a lock. I wonder if he'll go in as a Ranger or no emblem.

Glad to see Tim Raines got in.
