Nooo, I'm almost positive we've used them in Vietnam, the Remington Nylon 66, maybe?

I want one of those rifles, but i hate stamps.
Hearing Protection Act, please work. |

There was a rumor that the idf had a 50 necked down to 22 that they used for this job.
Read about that in a book called Fry the Brain. I think your brain is sufficiently fried. |

No, .22's were in common use as far back as WWII. The High Standard and Colt Woodsman for example. Vietnam saw several versions of .22 rifles, mostly Remington.

I think maybe some of the early Ar-7 might have been there, I know they used suppressed .22 pistols http://14544-presscdn-0-64.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/hushpuppy_in_seal_museum.jpeg View Quote That's a 9mm Smith and Wesson. |

But they did use the above mentioned High Standard a lot. I would love to see a suppressed AR-7! |

Anyone know the technique these guys use ? Is this a shot to an extremity with a subsonic round or what?

They caused frequent enough fatalities severing femoral arteries that it either worked really well or poorly, depending upon your POV.

The OSS used some suppressed Winchester Model 74 .22 rifles during WW2.

Not definitive proof but I think someone wrote a book about suppressed weapons in Vietnam. I think the silver bar on the bottom rifle was a bolt lock. https://qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-7a9be21d180f46e59dddbf1e2e8a0bab-c?convert_to_webp=true My mind is blown. |

I can't find any sign of it anymore, but once back a few years ago I stumbled across an NSN# for a Crimson Trace IR lasergrip for the Ruger MkI/II.

View Quote Check out Paladin Armory or Google "suppressed AR 7". It is available. A 10/22 takedown SBR with an integral suppressor or even the venerable Marlin 70PSS "Papoose" suppressed would likely be more durable and reliable options. With a tuned 22/45 and suppressor, you can make some awesome hits with a light, small package. |

I love the 10/22. I must have 1/2 dozen of those things around here, but the Marlin Model 60 is a more reliable weapon.

Didn't Mossad and the Israeli Air Marshals use .22LR Berettas with silencers back in the 70's?

I could've sworn that I've seen a pic with a Russian soldier wielding a suppressed .22 rifle.

See? The Israelis are committing war crimes! Everyone knows a .22 will keep bouncing around inside a person, tearing up their insides! Excessive force!
