I just checked a few websites and the prices are insane.
This morning I bought a 50 round box of Winchester 22LR Laser (ammo made in Australia) and paid 6 euros for it, so its 6.5 usd I suppose give or take. Remington Subsonics are 7 bucks. This is in my local small town gun shop here in Spain.
Whats the logic behind the high 22LR prices over there?

A couple places are down to $20/325rd brick. Distributors and retailers have been sitting on it thinking Hillary would win.

Another 6 months and they won't be able to afford to sit on their massive pre-election orders. Prices will come down significantly.

Around here it's about $37 for a 500 round brick of Federal.

Unlike other ammo that has doubled in price since the early 2000's, 22LR seems to have tripled since the early 2000's.

All the hairy necks aside...

There has also been a virtual EXPLOSION of AR15 .22lr conversion kits and widespread adoption of them in the past 5-7 years.

Used to be everyone turned their noses up at the use of .22 conversion kits and the options were slim - usually just a surplus m-261 kit or oly knock off.

Now there are dozen of conversion kits, magazines and dedicated hosts.

So the user base went through the roof when the worlds most popular sporting rifle's community got on the .22 band wagon - and I'm sure our burn rate is much higher than the traditional .22lr market - as is our propensity to stack it deep.

I live in Idaho and we have a CCI factory here; and it's harder to get cci here than anywhere.

Hey, I happen to have hair on my neck, its just happens to grow there.

I guess I'll go pick up some more. That Laser stuff seemed ok and so does the Remington subsonic. My range has CCI for about the same price or less.

I would say $6.50 per box or $13.00 per hundred is actually high even for here.

I see .22 going for about $3.50-$5.00 or $7.00-$10.00 per hundred around here.

It's way overpriced at most online vendors, but I've been paying 5.7¢ per round at Academy.

Yesterday they had a metric shit-ton of .22 ammo on the floor, more than I've seen in a looonng time. They've had it more often than not for the last year or so, but got in a massive amount yesterday.

CCI Quiet-22 is still hard to find locally, but other CCI, Winchester, Federal and Aguila are all available.

ok, thats more reasonable, the best I see only here is 4.24 for a box of Blazer.
