We had a local woman that went out for a booty call last year.  Her house caught on fire and three of her four kids (all under six) died.

Guess she'll just make more.

I thought it was just common knowledge to protect  your children in Africa. Everything there can kill you.

I am always taken back that a starving country has such an animal problem . I would be eating rats like hot pockets , They would make a tv show about me killing crocs with an AK and RPG  and wearing them as a fashion trend.  I watched a River Monsters episode in africa where they complained the lake they fish in was so overpopulated by crocs they could not eat.  Jeremy Wade then was taken back from the lake where they showed a large aluminum hull boat with an AK in the village.  Even if they did not want to use the ammo there are still ways to catch them . And yes you can eat them

I've read accounts detailing just that.
in rural areas, groups of kids go out in the morning and beat the brush for rats, killing them with sticks. Then they light fires and eat them whole after singing off the hair,
mmhmmmm...the taste of Africa; warm rat guts in the morning.

I guess hunger is the best sauce.

The rats there are nothing. They have tsetse flies down there the size of eagles. Really. In the evening, I would stand in front of my hut and watch in horror as these giant flies would pick children off the ground and carry them away. Oh, it was an incredible sight. Peasants screaming...chasing these flies down the road, waving brooms. You can imagine the pathetic quality of this. Waving these crudely fashioned brooms at these enormous flies.....as they carried their children off to almost certain death.

Yes. Natives had a name for them. "José Grecos de Muertos." "Flamenco dancers of death." The enormous flies flapping slowly away into the sunset. Small brown babies clutched in their beaks. A sight I'll never forget. I was stunned. Appalled.

It's quite a hit to her income, though. Welfare moms should be eligible for unemployment until they can replace them.

Now it's my turn for a movie reference, but I'll give you the film:

"You must make a friend of horror.  Horror, and moral terror, are your friends.  If not, then they are enemies to be feared."

- Col. Kurtz, APOCALYPSE NOW, on how to survive in the jungle.

The only problem is, sometimes "survival" is not compatible with being a decent human being and keeping your sanity.

And that is the dilemma of moral men attempting to live in a world of horror.

And for yet another quote - "welcome to the party, pal."

Text me if you figure out how to read news headlines like this without having small pieces of you die when you do.
