I think you're missing the point. It's not just about a doll.

No, it's about selling dolls that look like the people buying them.

Chubby kids want chubby dolls sort of like black kids want black dolls.

That's what I was getting at. This whole culture of "curvy not fat". It's pretty horrible all the fat kids I see. Now they need a toy to make them feel better about it.

Fat kids are not a good thing, but not all women are built like current fashion runway models.  And many of these women are not fat.  They just ain't skinny.

Nothing wrong with a 5'10" woman with 165 pounds of niceness on her.

It's all about the shape, and the build.  But what you see in magazines is all about being a size 5 or less.  Not a thing wrong with that but expecting that to be the norm is retarded.

Only a matter of time before some toy company comes out with a transgender doll

Complete with detachable wiener ( instant hoo ha ) - of course its reversible for the hoo ha to wiener conversion.

Strange world we are living in.

Barbie has looked the same for 50+ years and sold a ga-zillion dolls ... hey !! - lets change her looks to make peoples feels ( adults ) better. The kids play with the skinny Barbie and its just a 'doll' to them. The wacko fat moms don't think its 'right' so they lobby for 'chunky barbie'

5'10" 165 pounds must be a big girl. I'm 5' 11" 173 pounds and I'd even consider myself a little fat, which I'm still working on.
I fully understand unrealistic expectations of what you see in magazines and on tv but now a days fat people can't even be called fat without body shaming them.

Speaking of GI Joe why isn't there a noodle arm or beer belly GI Joe? If skinny Barbie body shames girls doesn't a muscular GI Joe body shame boys? Why is it okay to give boys unreasonable standards to live up too but not girls? Fight the matriarchy!

ITT, people hate on capitalism.

Protip: Mattel isn't saying, "it's ok to be fat." Mattel is saying, "fuck it, if the fat heifers and short heifers and tall heifers give us their money, we'll sell what they want us to sell. Now give us your money, heifers!"
