According to police, Franks was talking on his cell phone while sitting in his car on the parking lot of the Schlafly Tap Room on Locust
when two suspects approached his driver’s side door around 7:25 p.m.
One of the suspects pointed a gun at Franks, at which time he exited his
car and ran inside the Schlafly Tap Room. The suspects then drove Franks’ 2009 red Toyota Camry from the parking lot and out of sight.
They also reportedly stole a black handgun and two cell phones that were
inside the vehicle, police said. Franks sat down with KMOV's Lauren Trager to talk about the incident. "What hurts the most is that these are the same young people that I try to
help and I'll continue helping and more importantly, they look like me,"
Franks said.
