Lately, I've been watching some videos at 1.25-1.5 speed on yahtube. Depends on the content of it, not really the length of the video. Maybe the purpose for watching it too.

Anybody else deviate from 1x? Even for videos you are listening to/watching for pleasure (as in, it is relevant to some subject matter you enjoy)?

Do you think you retain the information, or is it just bullshit that you weren't going to remember anyway in a shorter format?

2x is too fast on most videos, ime. Can't catch all the audio, especially if in a background tab. Obviously, speeding up certain videos can make them unwatchable. Music videos, etc.

Yeah, but take for example a ~10-20min video of someone doing political analysis of X. You can't really use the preview to skip to the money shot. Some insight or useful fact may be missed.

Use Bill Wittle as an example, GD loves him.

Something like a podcast I would never speed up though.

Is it weird that I suddenly read this post twice as fast as I normally would?

Music: normal speed.

Most everything else: 1.25 or 1.5, depending on the pace of the speaker.

It simply saves time.

After reading this I might try speeding up some to 1.25 and see how I like it.

Time is precious, most people talk and do things too slow.

My wife listens to books on tape on her commute, and likes getting the downloads on her phone so she can listen to them at like 4x speed, so the audio goes at the same speed that she would read at.

Never thought about doing that with yt vids though.
