Looking to get some HD rounds for my G20. What does the hive like to use?

Current favorite is Underwood 135 grain. Recoil is surprisingly good and accuracy is excellent.

I've got Sig V-Crown 180 in my mags, I don't have much stashed for the G20 as it isn't my go to urban SHTF handgun to begin with but I do keep stashed away a box each of Hornady 180 XTP, Hornady 175 Critical Duty, and Buffalo Bore 180 JHP.

I loaded some Federal HST bullets (.40 S&W 180 grain JHPs) for my Glock 20SF that did some amazing things to ballistic gel and a spoiled moose quarter.

Can you give us more details? Like a pic of the expansion and possibly your load data on it?

I have one pulled 180 that I'm going to load up soon to see if an HST in 10mm is a better option than a 180 GDHP.

I have Underwood 10mm 155gr Gold Dots loaded in mine. But I picked it based on the 10mm Energy List, not based on any real-world experience of mine.

759 ft. lbs. @ 1485 fps

For HD, 10mm is the Mayor of Overpenetration City and the Capital of Arthritisville-Flashberg.

While I would agree with gold dots in most all other ammunition, internet reviews show they actually separate at 10mm speeds.

Wouldn't that be good for HD? If fragments penetrate 10-12" of gel then it would be good to go.

Depends on what I'm carrying for.  Defensive?  I go with some old skool Tridon 165gr, only because my Grock likes them the best.  Hunting or possibility of big cats or small bears?  I've got some Ted Nugent (DoubleTap) 180gr.  In my area, I don't need anything heavier.

Underwood looks exactly like the Georgia Arms. My own load using PP looks just like the other 180 GDHP grenades.

Something from Underwood, I use my G40 as a woods gun, so I have Underwood 180gr XTP's.

Just to make it easy I would likely use the same for HD, but some of the 155gr loads could be awesome two legged stoppers.

If you reload then you can load .40 s&w rounds in 10mm just before the fragmentation threshold.

That way you get max expansion but not the fragmentation.

My favorite load is the 200 grain Hornady eXtreme Terminal Performance (XTP) bullets which are designed for deep terminal penetration, great accuracy and controlled expansion traveling at 1400 feet per second.

Totally devastating!  Look at the entry wounds in this redneck ballistic gelatin at 25 yards:<img src="

(ETA, this is actually a .40 Super load.  Still a 10mm bullet, but 25% more energy).

I'm currently using 180 SIG V crowns in my Glock 20, I'm just about out of them so my spare mags are loaded with handloaded 180 gold dots at about 1200fps. I like Winchester Silvertips as well but it seems like they are always out of stock whenever I am looking for some.

Meh...   10mm Auto Magnum will top that.  It will push a 180gr XTP to over 1600fps a bit over 1000 ft-lbs.  And no silly bottleneck cartridge.

You are correct, although the brass is actually necked down .451 Detonics since .45 ACP is too weak.  .40 Super is my all time favorite caliber so I pimp it every chance I get, ha ha.

Sweet!  Who sells a 10mm auto magnum barrel for my FNX-Tactical, will I still have 15+1 capacity, and when do you expect Underwood to offer 10mm auto magnum ammunition?

Got no time for a damn FN auto loader.  If you must be that crude ATM has you covered.

Uggg, that semi-auto is one of the uglyest guns I've ever seen, but the revolver is sweet!  It would be cool to have a semi-auto and revolver loaded with the same awesome cartridge...  The 10mm auto magnum cartridge is too dang long for semi-autos though, if you ask me.

I went this route because I have always lusted after the mighty 10mm round, but I have enough Glocks, and didn't really want to buy another complete gun anyway.  Also, 10mm is kinda long, and I have medium sized hands so most of the 10mm's I've handled felt a little too big around the grip.

So, for the price of a conversion barrel, I have a gun that is actually a little more powerfull than 10mm.  It's a win-win!  I never was that interested in 400 corbon since it's a little weaker than 10mm.

For years I kept my Glock 20 loaded with Cor-Bon 135gr

About a year or more ago my neighbor's lab was attacked by three pitbulls while I was out planting bushes.

Two neighbor ladies came out and tried to separate the dogs when the Alpha pitbull released the lab and attacked her taking her to the ground.

I was already heading over with the shovel I was using but when I saw the dog go for the woman I ran inside and grabbed the G20

Once I arrived the Alpha had released the woman and was back on the lab. It had pushed the lab through their open front door and pinned it against a couch where it was on the dogs throat.

I fired one round into the Alpha pit's heart killing it instantly. The round performed as designed and the dog dropped like it was hit by lightning.

After the incident I decided it was likely time to swap out the 10 year old Cor-Bon ammo.

I contacted Cor-Bon and described the incident in an email. They raved about the increased performance they were seeing from their DPX round over the 135gr Sierra bullet I used.

I bought 4 boxes of their DPX 10mm load and shot a box up to insure reliability and accuracy in my gen3 G20.

I have considered converting my own S&W 610 to 10mm Magnum but for everything I do with it 40 S&W and 10mm Auto get the job done just fine.  I load 200gr CMJ@~850fps in 40S&W cases at near 10mm length (helps with accuracy) for USPSA competition.  For hunting I load 200gr XTP @ 1250fps in 10mm cases.  Took two does with that load earlier this month, one drop in her tracks the other made it about 15 ft.
