https://www.henryrifles.com/rifles/the-long-ranger/ .223 Rem, .243 Win, and .308 Win lever action rifles. Neat. |

In before the Henry fan boys scream about those not being Henry rifles.
Looks cool but now I really want pistol caliber lever guns with loading gates from these guys!!! |

You're six months late. They feel nice. View Quote Good. These guns are on the 2017 products page. Probably the first time I have looked at the company's web site in a decade. I'm impressed that the butt pads look like they got that feature right. I would like to see one end on to see if they are shaped in shotgun style. |

They are very nice guns. Came out late spring. Had a chance to shoot the .308. Very accurate and recoil is not bad at all. I have a BLR as well, and while I'd still pick the Browning, it's close. Friend paid ~650 otd for it.
Eta: has detachable mag just like the BLR |

Interesting. The only thing I'd say is that you can pick up a used BLR for a lot less.

And I thought we fixed the photos being twice as large
as the post problem |
|
Is it an actual blued steel receiver or one of the pot metal painted ones?

|
OK, that's cool. Fellas, these are great days to be a gun guy!

View Quote The butt pads on both guns don't look like they were fitted correctly. If I was boss of rifles, all standard rifles would be sold with butt plate shims off the rack. That means any remaining graceful taper of the butt stock ends at the butt plate. But sometimes I prefer function or utility over pretty. A Steyr SSG or an Anschutz target rifle in a wood stock are two good examples; both are shooters, and the look is not bad. |

One of my all-time favorite American gun manufacturers Imperato's politics if nothing else. His little lever action .22 rifle that I have shot was accurate and beats the pants off its competition. The acceleration of new products out of the company are one reason I have taken more interest. But the mare's leg and break open single shots are an unneeded diversion from my point of view; the single shots have to really step up and bring something to compete against cheap New England Arms guns. |

Cool now make one that takes AR15/AR10 mags. why? Just because.

Looks identical to a BLR if you ask me. View Quote I thought the same thing but then I pulled up some pics of the Browning BLR. First thing I was looking for..... the BLR has the trigger group as part of the lever, i.e. it moves down and out of position when the lever is operated (operationally). The Henry does not have that feature. The trigger assembly is separate from the lever function like a "92, '94 etc. This likely is the reason that the shooters liked the trigger as well as they did. I would be in the market for one at around $650-$750 IF I COULD GET IT in...........358 Winchester............. Henry, ya listenin....... I'm talkin one helluva woods gun. |

View Quote Beats the pants off what competition? The BL22? Not even close. The Marlin 39? Still no.... What it does do is offer a decent gun at a decent price. Nothing more...they are cheaply made, and the price reflects that. I have had a couple, and they have quickly gone down the road. Their centerfire levers....just no. As for the single shot, they are now the only game in town. NEF no longer makes single shot rifles. |

I think it looks AWESOME.
I'll bet it balances and throws nicely. The video reviews have been very complimentary of its accuracy. Most of the guys shooting it are either bolt or auto guys -- a lever befuddles 'em. |
