May not help in ice. I remember back in the early '90s, driving to work in upstate NY, after an ice storm. All roads were black ice. My 4WD Toyota pickup could make about 25MPH if I kept one wheel off the road, in the ice covered snow bank. My 40 min drive took over 2hrs, but I made it.

Summer tires do ok around here in ice on top of chip-seal roads. I think the uneven surface helps with traction.

Been there. I got caught in a freak snowstorm driving home, across country, in my STi. When they warn you that Bridgestone RE070's have zero winter traction, they aren't lying. Luckily, we made it home unscathed and the car slept quietly in my garage until spring.

Im running 4 x 305/30 R19 on all 4 corners MPSS on my ride. Even at 110 deg here it feels like im on ice. 1540hp will do that though

Home safe and sound. In the 3 miles from the tire shop to home there were 3 crashes. 1 was a 4 car pile up, 1 shut down a exit ramp and the last one just about blocked my road

ya they missed this one, it was supposed to be 37 to 38 and nothing, tomorrow they were talking snow in the night. but no we get 3 inches of ice. i was lucky i was working from home today. i just was like yep glad i am not out in this crap

I left a few minutes ago and the neighborhood streets were OK. I turned onto the north 364 service road in St. Charles and it was a skating rink. Cars off the road everywhere. I went around the block, very carefully, and came home.
When I watched the weather forecast this morning, we weren't supposed to get this shit til tomorrow night. 364 was a parking lot. |
