I saw on the morning news, since it is the 4th, they took a poll to see what our founding fathers would think about the way America has gone since they wrote the Declaration of Independence.

It was pretty split at 51% felt they would be happy and 49% felt they would be unhappy.

So what do you all think, is it going as planned?

Good question, Captain. I think they would be satisfied- at least, I doubt they'd be overly dissappointed. For the most part, I think America has lived up to the greatness those great men envisioned.

The FFs wouldn't even RECOGNIZE this nation - and that's not just hyperbole.

It's the antithesis of everything they risked their lives to create. [:(]

Bloated centralized Gov't.
Excessive taxation.
Ubiquitous infringements of ALL individual rights.
Outright unconstitutional acts at all levels of Gov't.
Blatant and open hostility towards Christian values and expression.
And the worst part - an apathetic people who look to the Federal Gov't to fix all their personal problems.

But it's still the best in the world today. None better.

I think they would angry, & saddened to see the state were in, & how far we have strayed from the way things were meant to be here. They could laugh at the absurdity of it if they weren't crying so hard from the outrage of it.

i think they'd be shocked at the development and saddened at the immorality and bloated gov't.  their reaction:  IMOH, they would say "roll up your sleeves and get busy setting things right or lose the rest of it.  best to get with it now and avoid bloodshed later if possible."

That's what I think too.

I think they would be very pissed, that after all their sacrifice, we have screwed it up (which, in my opinion, started during the Civil War, and became exponentially worse).
