I'm not talking about individual political parties, but on the gov't as a whole.

Where is "our gov't" taking our nation???

We are heading down the path to a full-blown socialist state.

The Federal government has morphed into something that the FF never intended.  We will be ruined as a nation when a non-tax paying majority can vote themselves additional entitlements on the backs of productive Americans.  We are close to that today.

There is no single "government."  There are hundreds of elected officials, hundreds of appointed officials, thousands of people hired to do various jobs.  One of the most laughable misconceptions of the black-helicopter crowd is that the phrase "the government" has any meaning whatsoever.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government.
It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure.
From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years.

These nations have progressed through the following sequence:
from bondage to spiritual faith,
from spiritual faith to great courage,
from courage to liberty,
from liberty to abundance,
from abundance to selfishness,
from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy,
from apathy to dependency,
from dependency back to bondage.

Too much socialism and bureaucracy in the government

Too little involvement by citizens in nipping social injustice BEFORE it becomes BAD LAW.  I'm talking boycotting and any other legal remedy to thwart bad actors and establish a LOCAL safety net for the unfortunate (disaster, victims of crime, etc.).  The concept is like a "neighborhood watch".  Instead we will have "Big Brother".

Government is a necessary evil.  Most people have morphed this into government being a necessary good, and you can't have too much of a good thing.

Government behaves like a living entity, and just like a living thing, it's primary goal is to sustain itself.  This is natural, as humans with natural human tendancies run the joint.  Thus, over the course of many years government has happily 'addressed' many of the concerns of the voters, and has legislated (taxed) monies for these concerns.  You will never hear a bureaucrat saying 'that's not in our charter'.  They will naturally take all that is allowed to be taken.

In the last several decades, people on average, have regarded government as their protector, and their guiding light.  Again, no bureaucrat will not take advantage of opportunity to expand their power (and security).

Thus, the government is indeed heading down the socialist (nanny state) path.  The strange thing is that the average American would recoil at the thought of being a socialist, but when queried about the planks in the socalist platform, he will respond to most of them with 'that not a bad idea'.

All you really have to do is look and see what Hillary wants to do.  If she ever gets her foot in the door, those that follow will make her look like Alexander Haig.

Well since you asked..........

I think we need to fire every single elected official in the land from the POTUS to the Mayor of Podunk, Podunkia.

Start all over again from scratch with:

term limits, no more lifelong career politicians. You can hold a maximim of 3 offices, 2 terms each, then you're done, adios muchacho

REASONABLE pay for elected officials, officials cannot under any circumstances vote their own pay raises

NO FREAKING LOBBYIST AT ALL, EVER, FOR ANY REASON

no gift's or free anything for elected officials that should be a crime punishable by death

mandatory death penalty for 1st degree murder, rape, child molestation and being a traitor

a WORKING prison system that is self sufficient, either you work to support yourself or your family provides or you die, no apoligy, that's the deal

no personal property tax on anything after initial sale

no tax on items you need to live like groceries and medicine

no state or federal welfare programs at all, ever, for any reason. It's time for the church to do it's job not the feds. Keep disaster relief like FEMA though.

pledge of allegiance back in schools every morning

only citizens and property owners can vote

DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!!  [:D]  [:D]

I tried to do a poll but it didn't work.

Basically what I'm asking is, where do you think most politicians fall along the following spectrum:

A. Basically good people who are capable, and doing the best they can.

.
.
.
.

Z. Evil people who work daily toward the destruction of America as we know it.

ZZ. Evil people who work daily doing the best they can to stay on top.  The destruction of America is merely a side affect of their greed.

They are nothing more than elites trying to fortify their position of power, and lead us to a socialist state which will become ever more dependant on them. In short I don't like them.
