I placed an order for 20 50rd boxes of .45 acp Ranger SXT at $ 25.00 per box and I ordered 20 50rd boxes of .22lr Remington Sub-Sonic at $ 1.38 per box.

The total was $ 527.60 shipping to be determined tomorrow when it ships.

My credit card no shows a charge of $ 629.44 from this very reputable firearms establishment.

That’s $ 101.84 for shipping!!!

Does this sound a little steep to anyone else for UPS ground from PA to AZ?

Well, gas prices have been going up.

A lot of internet firms that sell "cheap" make up the difference on shipping.

That's why you always have to find out what they charge for shipping when you are looking for a deal.

All the more reason to stick with ammoman.com, the price you see is the price you pay.

I've made orders that were somewhere around the same weight (500 rnds. 38 spl, 250 rounds .30 carbine), shipped from CA to IL for somewhere around $15-20 UPS ground.  Cancel the order, or dispute the charge on your card.

Way steep. Was that overnight air?

Go to ups.com and hit the "estimate cost" link on the main page under "quick links".  If you enter the weight and the zips it gives you a pretty close shipping estimate.  Lets you know if it's the company or UPS sticking it to you.

Hi Ponyboy, I don’t think gas has gone up enough to justify double the cost.

Hi legrue, I was supposed to be charged the actual shipping cost but it just doesn’t add up.

I usually purchase ammo from two other dealers who always tell me shipping cost up front but I really wanted to get the .45 SXT and the dealers I usually buy from never have the Remington Sub-Sonic in stock so I went for it.

Next time I will insist that I get a price for shipping before they charge my card.

I figured 35lbs and package this size 15X15X12 and here are the results.

UPS Ground $ 23.53
Three Day select $ 46.77
Second Day air $ 67.27
Next day air saver $ 89.70
Next day air early AM $ 97.31
SonicAir BestFlight $ 126.24

Thank you MightySwede for directing me to the estimate sight.

There is definitely something wrong here and I will call early AM to get things cleared up or canceled.

THISISME:  I know you probably want to avoid mentioning the company for fear of reprisals for "bashing", but could you drop me an email with the company name?

Funny, I had an almost exact same type of transaction two days ago when I bought 1,000rds. of Port. .308 from a dealer in TX.

The shipping fee left me shaking my head.

I was going to order a case of XM1911 from Natchez until I saw they wanted $39 shipping, which I feel is high. Add on a case of 22lr and one would expect maybe $15 more based on the weight. But $100 for shipping in insane.

If you asked for next day air, sure, $100 is expected. But UPS ground? No friggin' way!

I don't know if the online estimate throws in delivery to a residence, which costs more for the shipper. There are some variables, I use it almost everyday at work though and we usually add an extra 20% to the shipping quote so the actual comes in under what I can "guess-timate" for the customer quickly. That 20% usually covers UPS's weirdness.

sportsmans guide charged me $18 on my recent order of 500 rounds of 7.62x39, 400 rounds of .45acp dutch bdu pants, a british bdu jacket and 140 rounds of .223 (they had a back order on the rest)
I think the ups tracking site said it was 44 pounds

Sounds like you ordered some ammo from PRO-LOAD...

I called them and found out a few things that both cleared things up and made me mad.

The guy who took my phone order is hard of hearing so even though I went over how many boxes of Winchester .45acp I wanted to purchase with him enough times until he repeated back to me the same number I was telling him, somehow he changed it to 25 boxes instead of the 20 boxes I had ordered after I asked him if the boxes where the same price as the opening price in their auction which was $ 25.00. As it turned out they only had 23 boxes left so that added $ 75.00 to my bill.

Add $ 75.00 to ammo and that made the shipping cost only $ 26.84 and that sounded about right. I received another email from my bank that let me know the gun shop had charged another $ 25.00 to my account. I called them back and they told me they had to ship in two boxes which made raised the shipping cost to $ 51.84.

I’m not sure if I will ever deal with this gun shop again. It took me about fifteen minuets to order some .45acp and some 22lr because the guy was so hard of hearing and I wanted him to get the order right and it was still screwed up. Not only did it cost me extra for the extra ammo but I would not be surprised if the extra three boxes of .45 tipped them in the direction of shipping two packages instead of one, almost doubling my shipping costs.

Never did I ever hear an “I’m sorry” out of any of anyone I spoke to in my two phone calls to this company today and do to their errors I have a little over $ 100.00 extra charged to my account.

Sorry for the long post guys.
