This.

If you're going through all the trouble of putting it in a glass, I'll assume you want the right tool for the job.

I was just served a cold pint in a glass with a stem.

How is this even a question?

Stemware is for wine, i.e. women and sissies...

A "pint" glass is 16oz.

Was this a 16oz glass with a stem?

If so, I've not heard of one of those yet.

Now, 12oz / 10oz snifter style glasses are very common for higher abv beers.

Pic of glass?

If the beer you were served was intended to be drank at a warmer temperature than it was served, then it would be correct.

I don't even drink and I know that no beer should be served in a glass with a stem.

A pint glass should not have a stem.  Not all beer is best in a pint glass.

What did they serve you?

Any stemmed glass will be higher than a comparable non-stemed glass.

The increase in elevation means it will rotate faster.

Since it is moving faster, time dilation will occur, not much, but it is there.

Best to drink from a low profile unstemmed glass.

It adds up over a life time of drinking.

Unstemmed glasses help keep the time line stable.

Depends on the beer. All the no stemware folks are silly beer fudds that don't know beer from rice water.

Eisbock and maibock are to be served in a flute
Porter and doppelbock in a stem glass
Scotch ales and farmhouses in a thistle
Barleywine, imperial stout, quads, mead in a snifter

A pint is 16 oz.  Most places fuck you out of 4 oz by giving you a 12 oz glass.

An imperial pint is 20oz.

Living in the US of A, a pint is 16oz.

When the Brits changed  the way they measured a gallon of liquid in the 1800's we stuck to the old volume.

The laws in the UK mandate that you're also poured 20oz of actual beer.  Head (foam ) doesn't count!!

If you want to be a snob about it then NO, that's not correct.
There is a different type of glass for every type of beer.

IPA

Wheats

Stouts

Aged and Eisbochs (high ABV)

Pictures courtesy of Spiegelau glassware.
I have the class to accept these as facts even if I most often reach for the party cup stack at my own home.
Just getting the beer out of the bottle (or can) does so much for it.

I lived in Germany 3 years (2 in the Army, one on the economy) and I tried numerous kinds of beers. I don't recall ever getting served one in a glass with a stem.

Back when I did drink, it was mainly just to get drunk, so I couldn't care less what the glass looked like.

A pint is 16oz, yes. Great measurement to use when cooking in the United States.

But A Pint™ is served in a 20oz pub glass exactly like the one I posted earlier.

YES, it is correct.

Those aren't pint glasses. They may or may not hold a pint of beer. They may or may not be the appropriate glasses for the beer you're drinking.

But they ain't pint glasses.
