So here's the deal. I don't really like Trump. I dislike Johnson, but I dislike him less. Now if I lived in a state where there was any doubt about who was going to win, I would reluctantly vote Trump. But that's just not the case.

My reasoning on voting Trump would be to stick it in the eye of the super liberal Burlingtonistas. Give him a stronger showing in order to piss them off a bit ya know? But I think Johnson has a chance of a double-digit showing too. And that's also a message I'd like to send. I tend to be a Republican with libertarian leanings really. The Libertarian party is a fucking mess. My choice overall for president would have been Rand Paul.

ETA:

Made my choice. Read on if you like, but it's a total shit show just like every other election thread.

what about Johnson attracts you?

The open borders or the absolute hatred of organized religion or the use of the federal government to force people to like each other or the abject ignorance on everything.

Trump represents actual change to the federal government.  Johnson represents a hippie version of an omnipotent government changing society to be more "tolerant"

Vote Trump and write a letter to the editor.

God damn, folks.   You can't know that the polls mean dick right now.  The future of the SCOTUS is on the line.   Send a message other than firing your last shot into the berm when you can see the whites of the eyes of the enemies who are on their way to rape your children.

I would like to have seen Rand as well.  Being from KY and having watched his political career grow, I think he's a good representation of "the rest of us".  However, I think his soft-spoken nature and his father's shadow impacted him.

That said, I've accepted that this is a two party system and to vote outside of it is not to vote at all.  Complaining that my guy didn't win the party primary and throwing my vote away is cutting off my nose to spite my face.  You have two choices for a winner in this election : Trump or Hitlery.  Choose the one that is closest to your values and where you want this country to go, and vote.

If you've really been following party politics, you know that in nationals the Republican party leadership has fucked the Paul's in every primary. Here in Texas the state party leadership put out a false story that Ron Paul had dropped out of the race the day before the primary in 2012, he hadn't. In New Hampshire they fucked him in '08

If Johnson was an actual libertarian there might be a reason to vote for him.  But he isn't, so fuck him. It's kind of odd, but the Republican candidate is the only anti establishment candidate on the ballot. No he isn't perfect, no he isn't a constitutional conservative, but he is closer to the Constitution than anyone else on the ballot.

Some of you pro-trump nuthuggers should at least pay enough attention to see what state the OP is in.  There's no way in hell that Vermont will be anything other than a Hillary state, so essentially the OP's vote (and mine) don't matter, other than to help strengthen a 3rd party option for future elections.  One interesting thing about Vermont, for as liberal as it is, is that we have a history of supporting 3rd party candidates more than in any other state.  Just because somebody doesn't support Trump doesn't mean that we're pro-Hillary shills, or whatever such nonsense that some of you keep pushing.

That mentality is what keeps states a deep blue for so long. People decide to satisfy their ego and vote for a mickey mouse candidate or stay home because there is "no chance" .

Guess what Johnson doesn't stand a chance to win a single state.  So you can be a retard and waste your time trying to trigger people online all you want... just know your mentality is what is wrong with this country.

it really is simple:

If you want Trump to win, vote for Trump.

If you want FHRC to win, vote for ANYONE ELSE.

If you want to 'make a statement', wear a button while you vote, then find a 'safe space' to talk about how cool you are.

If you think this election is liberals vs conservatives then you haven't been paying attention.  This election is rich elite establishment versus the voters.  Hillary stole the election from Bernie, because the establishment wanted her.  Jeb was supposed to win, which is why the establishment dumped 150 million into his primary.  The GOPe is now working against Trump and helping Hillary that is why Ryan, McConnell, McCain, Romney, and Graham are all telling people not to vote for Trump.  That is also why George H Bush endorsed Hillary and the entire Bush family said they won't vote for Trump.

The only way a 3rd party becomes relevant is when the establishment allows it.

Watch this short clip where the GOPe laughs at the voters while saying it is up to the elite to determine who really becomes President.
