I'm no expert but he has Air Force command pilot wings, he is a major or LT colonel, the top right ribbon looks like a bronze star, and he has WWII and Korea campaign ribbons.

I'm sure someone who knows better than me will be along.

Same as above, command pilot, major or LTC.

Here is a link to a site with a breakdown of awards that may help.

Can you tell us his full name?

IIRC, there's a Colonel Warner A. Britton that was awarded an Air Force Cross during Vietnam. Specifically the Son Tay Raid.

Sure it was B-17s?

'Cause I found a Robert Britton who flew B-29s with the 468th Bombardment Group (VH) in the Pacific, though he was a Captain at the time of his 35th mission.

Not positive on that, just from what her father says.

Cool, my great uncle was in the 468th, B-29 Postville Express, see my avatar, he was the radar officer. They were the first B-29 to drop bombs on japan from what info I've read.

Not trying to hijack thread though OP.

Little tid bit but the US Air Force, at that time the US Army Air Corp, had the second highest casualties of any branch of service. Second only to the Army itself.

Here's a little something about him I've found so far, if the Robert listed is actually him.

Cool, looks like him and my great uncle were both in the 794th at some point then, maybe the same time even, not sure, my uncle's plane ended up getting shot down, him and a couple others survived and were Japanese POW's, the others were casualties. That's about all I can find on google right now, if you ever find the plane's name of his or anything like that try to google that also, never know what might come up.

Have the NOK fill out the form and request any and all records available.  If he is deceased then a spouse or child can submit the form.  There is a pretty good chance his records burned in the fire but maybe you'll get lucky.

That I wouldn't know, I've only looked at the one above, never dove much further into things than that. I may have to now though.
