I've got a 2015 Sierra extended cab 4wd. It's a good daily driver, but the factory tires don't perform well at the farm on weekends. I'm going to do a leveling kit, remove the front air dam before a rock or rut removes it for me and get some new tires. What is the official GD recommendation for a good AT tire.
Right now I'm leaning toward the Toyo Open Country AT2 in 285/55/20 on the factory wheels. They have great reviews online and every shop I've talked to seems to say they're good tires. I'm hearing about people getting 70-80k on them with 1/2 ton trucks. Suggestions? Different tires? Different wheels and tires in order to actually have some sidewall? Monster Energy stickers + flat brimmed hat? |

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. Awesome all-around truck tire.

Make sure whatever you get is rated for mall parking blocks.

General Grabbers treated me well on my Raptor.

Cooper AT3 work pretty damn good on my Excursion with a 7.3, they should stand up to a 1/2 ton with no issues. I like them much better than the Toyos on my Dodge. They are also cheaper and seem to balance better.

I like the BFG's because they do well on the highway. They're good on loose surfaces but terrible in mud.
|
|
I've had a lot of the popular AT tires. BFG AT, Nitto Terra Graplers, Duratracs, Cooper Zeons, maybe some others. Next ones will probably be another set of Toyo Open Country AT2. To me they have been the best all around tires. May try the new Nitto Ridge Grappler or Toyo RT but my truck gets driven all winter an not as much in the summer.

you aint getting no damn 80k out of any tire no matter what they tell ya. what kind of farm drivin you doin ? any mud? them there AT tires aint worth a darn in mud. yer gonna have to git you some muddin tires. |

Mickey Thompson ATZ P3. They're light and great all around. Quiet too. I picked up a whole mpg when I switched from Grabber 2s to these. But then again, I lost an mpg when I went from stock BFGs to the Grabbers.
35x12.5x17 btw. I've had Toyo MTs in the past and hated them. Rode like hell and I didn't get enough mud driving to warrant an MT. |

I got less than 35,000 miles out of a set with my dually bro dozer. And only 40,000 miles with set on a gasser one ton utility bed. If you want those tires, try them out. But excuse me while I laugh if you think you'll get 80,000 miles out of a set. |

Push them out a little and things will be different. I really don't know what fits on a 1500, but my old 3500HD needed a leaving kit to fit the 285/60 20 Duratracs with a +00 wheel. IIRC they are about 33.5 tall. Not sure what you got for winter there in MO, but have you looked at the Toyo RT or Nitto Ridge Grappler? Haven't had either but the appear to be a cross between an AT and an MT. If mine weren't mostly a winter/work truck they would get a good look. |

Hankook dynapro ATM's on my 3500 right now... They have been awesome. Have about 50k on them and it's about time for new tires.
Going with the new Nitto Ridge Grapplers next. |

Why in these threads does Falken never get mentioned? The wild peak at3 looks like a similar tire to the coopers and toyos all terrain.
I'm considering the Falkens for my f250 gas engine truck that is only off road probably 10-15% of the time, but the lack of input is not a confidence builder. |

I have heard nothing but good things about the Duratrac. I, personally went with the Cooper AT/3. Like it so far, but not enough miles into it to give a fair assessment. I bought the AT/3 based on feedback versus the Duratrac. Make sure you get the correct load rating for your application.

I have 275/70/18 BF Goodrich AT/KOs on my F150. Largest tires I could put on the factory wheels without needing a leveling kit, been very pleased with them.

The 285/60/20 adds about 1" total diameter. That is 1/2" to the radius and lift over the 285/55/20. |

And about 2" taller than stock. I'd be surprised if you could fit a 33.5" tire on a stock half ton chevy.

GY says the 285/60/20 Duratrac is 33.5". So in reality, one inch bigger. ( Off topic: Duratracs, like most of the bigger tires, usually run on the small size compared to the theoretical size.. Just like every fucking BFG 35" is actually about 33.5" , but still priced like a 35" ) |

BFG A/T KO2
Quiet on the road, great in the rain, worked well for me on muddy trails, in snow, and on ice. |

Toyo Open Country R/T
A cross between the all terrain and mud terrains. Nice aggressive tread without the horrible road noise you get with the m/t and longer tread life. |
