I have seen and been issued those before. It is the older M60 mount. I don't think that there is any difference in functionality between it and the later mounts, and there were still a few kicking around the service 10 years ago.

It appears to be the M-60 pinacle mount for the M151A2 jeep. I was an M-60 gunner in a USAR MP unit and we had this type of mount on top of all our gun jeeps.

SGT Gold has hit the nail on the head.  It is an M60 pinnacle mount.  It is identical to the ones we had at Bragg nearly 20 years ago.

It'll also fit the M-122 tripod. It's the first issue pintle made from the pintle for the M-191A4 Browning. It has a lever that swivels under to lock the gun upright-very useful for fpf fires and frontal targets.
I bet you'd sell it at subguns.com in a day.

I stand corrected. The jeep mount pinacle mount had a platform for the ammo can so you could feed the M-60 from the 200 round belt, not those little 'assault' packs the 50 round belts came in.
