I KNEW I should move to Texas.  Love me sum candy corn.

If you love candy corn, try this.  Mix with dry roasted peanuts (salted)  - equal parts candy corn.  VERY good.  Dangerously good.  Oh da BEETUS!!

Must have missed the thread.

Tootsie Rolls?  Blobs of mildly cocoa flavored wax?

Screw it.  I am going to make Kindergarten Paste Candy.  It will be better than candy corn at least.

Tootsie Rolls are overcooked chocolate fudge. I learned this cooking fudge to sell at the farmer's market. If you heat the fudge mix to about 250 F, it hardens like a Tootsie Roll.

Also, REAL Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are the candy master race. I'll bet the people in Connecticut and Rhode Island give out those little ones that you can't get the foil off of them. When I was a kid, a couple of my neighbors gave out the full sized Reese's singles. Those people were Halloween Gods.

Someone needs to let West Virginia know that Oreos are not candy.

One of the tenets of Postmodernism is that there are no objective truths because we all bring our own preconceptions into play when making judgment calls. Who among us is really able to decide what is and isn't a candy? There is no black and white, only shades of grey. No chocolate cookies and no creamy white filling, only delicious snacks. Snacks that can be covered in chocolate, battered and fried, crushed and put into DQ Blizzards, or eaten until our teeth look like our dentist is British. Twix can be candy or cookie, Hershey's Kisses end up as the star of Thumbprint Cookies, and Oreo is a candy depending on the eye of the beholder.

So, yeah, we're all a bunch of Post-Modernists up here in the Mountain State. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I sold Toblerones while I was in high school as the fund raiser for our German Club.

Or rather, my folks wrote a check to cover the costs of all the Toblerones I ate.

They really are that good.
