I live in Houston. Yeah that sucks. They had some pretty good ads every once in a while. I used to check it almost daily.

Not too long ago some older man was selling off his guns. $75 for a Ruger Mark I, $150 for a Remington 870, etc. All gone within hours of ad appearing.

There's still the Thrifty Nickel, though.

What are you talking about?  AFAIK, we can still list firearms in the classifieds.  I've never done it, nor looked into it, so I might be wrong.

Everybody thinks Austin is like Berkely.  It's NOT.  Get over it.  Even though Austin may be the most liberal city in comparison with other Texas cities, it's nowhere near as liberal as the whiney big cities we all know and love to hate....

Texas will fall to the LibDem horde very soon.

It'll become Kalifornisized in another decade or so.

Here are the online selections from the "Guns" portion of The Kansas City Star classified ads. Pretty slim pickings online, but you can count on a few intersting ads every week. I am surprised that as generally liberal as The Star is, that they haven't moved to eliminate gun ads.

Someone mentioned Thrifty Nickel. We have that here, too, and I'm usually taken aback at the paucity of gun ads in our edition. I would have thought there would be more. Even the ones that do appear every now and then look like they're run by pawn shops.

it's what you get when you have a HUGE university in your city

Thank goodness the exception to this rule is 90 miles east of Austin.  Where the 3rd largest Univ in the country is a conservative one, sitting in a very conservative city.

There are a lot of gun owners in Houston!

Time to start writing letters to the editor, and then cancel the subscriptions.

I don't know about that.  I just received the unsolicited opinion that all nonmilitary and all nonpolice have no business with guns, and if you are a hunter, you can rent a gun.
Lovely.

I gotta side with MatthewQ on this one.  Austin may have a bunch of tree-hugging pinko's living here (it's what you get when you have a HUGE university in your city), but it's still a damn nice place to live, plenty of gun stores, shooting ranges, and there are plenty of us "gun nuts" around.  DoubleFeed, wanna share the solicitation that you got?  I'm interested in contacting these people.

IMHO, Houston has been getting worse and worse the past couple of years.  The cause? (Again, IMHO) "Mayor" Buckwheat.  Here's a guy who has NEVER had a real job in his life, he keeps going from g'ment job to g'ment job, and is as pink whore's pussy.  I know that when he left as Chief of Police in the Houston area, I was not the only one that celebrated.  I'm glad that I moved away before he became "mayor".

Edit to add:  I'm looking thru the Austin American Statesman classifieds online right now. Plenty of gun and gun-related ads.
