A co-worker with a paranoid fear of spiders was just tellin me how he took to his woodpile with his .357 revolver after it was overrun with Wolf spiderz.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't want a Brown Recluse biting any part of your anatomy:

Did he  explain to you how Wolf spiders in the wood pile can cause your fireplace to jam from laquer build up and smell?   He should replace the Wolf spiders with Lake City spiders.... [bd]

if it was the one in the cave that was a species of scorpion, not actually a spider.

I have some of the pictures, the one with the legs sticking out of the clock, the picture of the spider on the wall, and the picture of the spider in the glass with a quarter for a size comparison.

E-mail me, and I can send you the jpg files.

If it was the one with the clock and the blinds, it was fake. Many different discussion boards came to that conclusion I thought.

I always thought Wolf spiders were fairly harmless, even though intimidating.

I emailed those pictures (clock spider) to that same guy (the .357 and the woodpile guy).  He immediately called me about 15min after I hit "send" and warned me never to do that again.........and he never opened the second or third one!!!

Sorry Cosmic, I should've issued a spew alert first. Now I REALLY know why the desert survival instructor emphasized shaking your boots and clothes thoroughly before putting them on in the morning! [puke]

Does anywon remeber the Field and Stream magazines from the late 80's--there were several articles that made front cover talking about electric shock to deter the effects of venom.

One of the stories was about two guys hiking in some rain forest trying to get to some village that had several people bitten by huge ants.  The ant's venom would cause the appendage that they bit to swell up and they would lose use of it for life.  Well, this author said he fell while hiking and immediately felt an intense buring pain on his shoulder. YEP! bitten by one of those ants.  He immediately shed his pack to get to his low voltage electric shocker--like a hand-held 'stun gun'. After he shocked himself--he only had a softball size bruise on his shoulder.
