Where can I get a good mosquito repellent?
Does Wally World carry good stuff or do I need to go to a specialist store?

wal-mart carries a small pump spray bottle of repel that is 100% DEET. it is like $4 for an ounce or so. there is some new stuff out called MAXI-DEET i don't know how much is in there, but probably %100 also.

You might want to use the 100% on outdis clothing only, not on your skin. It makes my wife feel "strange" (her words) when she once mistakenly used it on her skin.

The 100% stuff works great during early squirrel season when the spider webs in the woods are as thick as the brush.

I use 25% or less when I need it on skin.

Consumer Reports just ran a test of mosquito repellants in light of the West Nile Virus issue.

3M Ultrathon (33% DEET) was judged best with OFF "Deep Woods" (100% DEET) rated just behind.  Both kept mosquitos off for 12 hours and ticks from 7-10 hours.

Just remember - DEET (at least the 99% mil-spec) gives off vapors, and will f-up plastic (found this out when I jungle juice my face, then put my goggles on. Suddenly, the lens fogging didn't wipe off.
Oops.

Also, there are areas of Africa (Egypt) where the population is 100% serum positive for WNV. Odds are, unless we kill off every mosquito and carrier in the hemisphere, we'll all wind up with it eventually.

DEET on your skin mixed with dircet sun exposure equals trouble! My hands turned orange for 2 weeks. Now just to show for it, I have a mole that looks cancerous, even though my dermatologist says it isn't. DEET is for clothing only!

Muskol (sp)? is 100% DEET.  I have used it for years with little trouble.  Two drops for your legs, two for your arms, and then rub your face and neck with the remainder on your hands.  I said little trouble, got an ass whooping when I was younger for setting a bottle on my Grandmother's vinyl seat.  Made a nice melted ring.
