So are they or aren't they? Fans of lesbian thespian Portia de Rossi are desperate to discover if she and lover Francesca Gregorini are about to tie the knot -- or not. Fueling the rumors that we'll soon be hearing "Here come the brides ..." is the huge rock sitting on Portia's wedding finger and the fact that the utterly giddy couple was recently spotted shopping with Francesca's mother, actress Barbara Bach, wife of ex-Beatle Ringo Starr.

While nobody's walked down the aisle yet, the two are getting closer by sharing a house in Hollywood. Friends close to the couple claim they're in absolutely in heaven, and if they do get hitched, odds are it will probably happen in Europe.

But this isn't the first time there's been talk of nuptials for the two, who began dating back in 2001. Last year they planned to marry during a break from De Rossi's "Ally McBeal" shooting schedule -- but that didn't happen. And now Portia is set to star in a new FOX sitcom called "Arrested Development."

As for Papa Ringo, he couldn't be happier that his stepdaughter Francesca might get married to another woman. Last February, when the couple threw an official engagement party, both Ringo and Barbara were on hand, along with about 60 other close friends. "Both Portia and Francesca never looked more beautiful or in love as they floated around the party hand in hand," an insider told The National Enquirer.

For those who want to know more about the couple's rings, Portia's is a big-cut diamond on a platinum band. And Francesca, who's described her life as "blissfully happy," is also sporting a platinum band but with a smaller inset of diamonds.
