Welcome to my world. We dont even bother with testing for Marijuana though. The labs fees are higher than the fines, the DA wont prosecute for under the influence of weed, and possession isnt a bookable offence.

Some drunk/drugged out dude fell asleep at the wheel around the corner from his house.  He thought he was parked, he was but he parked in the middle of the street.  I thought someone killed him because all I heard was a loud idle and saw some dude slumped over the wheel.

Cops came and gave him a sobriety test.  They took him away but were nice enough to park his car for him instead of calling for a tow.

Ever since I started selling auto insurance I've learned one important thing - NEVER NEVER drink/do drugs and drive!  You cannot begin to imagine how much $$ you'll end up paying for insurance after getting a DUI.  Also, never let you insurance coverage lapse, and never drive without insurance.

The 3rd was the worst.  18 yr old girl had a fender bender. (lucky it was not worse)  During the eval I found out she has two children, 1-3yrs old and the other 1 1/2 yrs.  She is a stripper and she is on probation for dealing crank.  She is pretty messed up but keeps telling us she is clean and she just took a piss test today for her PO.  When she tried to pee in the cup only blood came out.  This is because she just had an abortion.  She finally gets some out and guess what.  Since she took her drug test today and probably won't take another (she thought) for a while she decided to go crazy.  She had benzo, cocaine, meth, and THC on board.

The only big problems we have with marijuana are people driving while stoned, and people taking risks they otherwise would not take when the are not stoned.

Teenagers dont make the greatest descisions to begin with, and marijuana (or alcohol) makes it worse.  Unfortunately we have an entire generation of children here that think it's perfectly normal to spend every weekend stoned.

Let's be realistic, it's been several generations now- kids in the 70's and later, who are now parents and grandparents of the druggies. Drugs are such an ingrained element of American culture, that it is almost impossible to root them out now. That, coupled with lack of parental supervision, help make for a permanently troubled society. And our main solution seems to be, as a society, to forbid them, yet still consume them.... no wonder kids are messed up.

And just how have anti-drug laws and the "War on Drugs" helped to solve this problem?

Answer: not very much, other than costing us huge amounts of tax money. They created new criminals where there had been none before, and new criminal enterprises to meet the demand. Our courts and police are more numerous and more powerful than they were before. Anti-gun laws also got a big boost from the "War on Drugs"- how have they helped society? They sure haven't helped me.

And yet some people still think it's perfectly fine to smoke weed and do drugs. Hey what you do is up to you but as is evidenced by multiple examples your interaction with society is totaly altered frim a non-drug unduced stumor. I don't envy any cop, but especially the ones that deal with all the dregs of society.

When I worked in juvie corrections in college, we had a kid whose preferred poison was Scotchgard...he'd spray a pillowcase until it was soaked and put it over his head.

This wasn't for possesion it was for DUI-D.
Here we don't lab test for possesion of marijuana.  We just field test and the court will take that along with the testimony of the officer.

Question:
Doing a UA for a DUI/D Marijauana in OK?
I haven't chased taillights for a while and maybe I've been living a sheltered life in the office for the past few years, but I've never seen a successful prosecution for DUI/D based on a UA in OK because while there was THC26 in the driver's system, we couldn't yet positively determine if the driver was stoned when we pulled them over or if they had used the day before. Kind of like the old routine with DUI/Alcohol when you catch up to them after the fact, like at an accident site, and the driver says that they were sober at the time of the MVA and were so shook up that they went to the trunk of their car, took out a bottle and drank non-stop until you got there, thus leaving you with a good Public Intox charge but a solid defense on the DUI. That happened on one of my cases years ago. A guy seriously injured in a motorcycle accident and way past .08 told us that "a good samaritan who was drunk" stopped to check him out as he lay in the ditch next to his bike. This alleged "samaritan" supposedly gave him some whiskey for the pain and then took off when he saw us coming because it wasn't his accident and he was too drunk to deal with us. They wouldn't prosecute it because the rider had a viable defense that he got drunk AFTER the accident. No BS, I was pissed when they let him go and I couldn't believe it either. No flame, just asking.

Okay, can one of you drug cops explain the process, in more or less general terms?  It seems like everything you can buy at 7-11 is in meth!  I know ammonia is a component, because we've had assholes stealing ammonia down at the farm.  I seem to recall !lithium batteries! and ephedrine, too?

Jesus, what a witches brew.

Now I remember just ONE of the many reasons why I decided against going into law enforcement.

It's because the sort of people that you've mentioned disgust me so deeply, and I consider them to be animals not worth saving,  that there's at least one tiny neuron in my brain that's sending out this mad little message:  "KILL THAT COCKROACH FOR THE GOOD OF SOCIETY."

Heaven forbid that I should actually LISTEN to that one neuron's bad advice!

I wouldn't want to be put into a position where I could become judge, jury, and executioner.  Judge Dredd I don't want to be.

I've seen as bad, though,  in the year I spent with an ambulance company.

I've got a couplea cousins that used to shoot meth.......sounds like a good time eh?

Roofies get used as a "date rape" drug, but that isn't as common as their normal use. many kids buy them at a couple bucks a pill and take one at the begiinning of an evening of partying because it only takes them a few drinks after on Rohypnol to get a pretty good and long-lasting drunk on. It is very common in Texas, mainly because they get purchased legally in Mexico and then smuggled into the States and are available so cheap.

Modern society provides no other way to weed out the weak.  We have no natural predators and we live in relative peace.  So, its facinating that a certain subset of people have developed a way to eliminate themselves from the planet.  It's not perfect Darwinism though, because too many times, they breed before they die, dragging out the process for generations.  I have to agree with the Libertarians on this one.  Make drugs legal- the stronger, the better. After a few generations, the problem will subside.  We need to stop surrendering our freedom to the "war on drugs"

I feel for all you guys who work in that world- it must be terribly depressing.

I dont mean to hijack here but do any of the law enforcement officers believe that steroids should illegal?  I have done some research on them for school and I dont think they should be in the same class as the rest of these drugs or illegal at all.  The reason I ask is because it is apparent that some officers use, Mr. Olympia for example.

It is short for benzodiazepines.  They are minor tranquilizers.  They are in the depressant class.  Some familiar ones are valium, Rohypnol and Serepax.

Very popular with stimulant abusers. They need something to bring them down enough to sleep. Unfortunately they are addictive and have some pretty horrible side effects when abused.

Just about every Tweeker I arrest is also abusing some tranquilizers along with some mild anti-depressant like Prozac, Paxil, Ect.

Want to know what we catch kids with?  Huffing whatever they use for air conditioning refigerant these days.  (can't remember the name)  They valve it right out of the operating system into a plastic bag and inhale. Gold or silver paint is popular, (Look up their nose to identify this) as well as MEK and Acetone. They soak a rag, put it in a bag, and hold it over their face.

As for pills,  go into any drugstore and try and buy over the counter asthma, motion sickness, or diet medication. I tried to buy Dramimine for a fishing trip this week and the store would only sell me a single packet of 10 tablets.

We also find them taking Viagra. Sometimes to counteract the effects of Ecstacy, but all by itself as well.  What on earth would a 17 yr old boy need Viagra for?  Why do the girls take it?
