Anyone know how easy or difficult it is to cash a m.o. not made out to your name? I had 7 money orders made out to me from various Ebay auctions get stolen from my wife's purse yesterday after she accidentally left her purse at a Red Lobster. They were in a bank deposit envelope all endorsed and ready to be deposited. She got back to the resturaunt and they had the purse, but the deposit envelope was missing. We think someone from the resturaunt took it, but have no proof. She filed a police report on the incident.
I figure worse case scenario is they are somehow cashed. Best case would be they show up again, but that seems highly unlikely. It would be a hassle to try to get the people who sent them to me try to put a stop on them as I think the m.o. companies charge to do that.....and by the time they get the notice to do so they may already have been cashed...so I'm out even more money. The other thing is I'm not even sure if those people still have their stubbs from the transaction as they have already received the items. It really pisses me off to think I got ripped off by the people who served me my dinner.....assuming that's the case.
Any ideas as to what the hell I can do??? I think I'll try to contact everyone that sent me the money orders and see how much it would cost to get the m.o. companies to reissue a new m.o. and if already cashed.....to get a copy of who may have cashed it. Should I even bother???!!!
