I just got a call from URS recovery inc.  They said they wanted me to take a message to my neighbor.  Just aphone number for him to call.

I think it was a collection agent from houston.

This is the second time this has happened, with different neighbors.

So these idiots just type in random addresses around the person they are trying to collect from?

And, should I take the message to the neighbor???

 I'm not absolutely sure.  If they mention that they are a collection agency or tell you if you inquire and mention recovery of a debt, that violates the third person disclosure rule in the Fair Debt Collection Act.

 I went through that mess years ago after being unemployed for close to a year.  The collection agency called my workplace, told the boss about my debt.  I was able to sue and win in small claims court, I won enough to pay off the debt to the original debtor(that I had been making payments to all along), pay off my truck and the next month's rent.

I got one of those phone calls myself a few years ago.

So being the nice nieghbor that I am, I took the message over (same thing, please call this phone number). A young housewife with kid in tow answered the door. And by the expression on her face I knew I had been used. [brick] [furious]

I vowed the next time my answer to the caller would be anything from a polite "Go-ef-yourself" to a very hatefilled "Tell them yourself." Depending on what kind of day I was having. [devil]

No one has ever called me again. [:(]
