I went to mine over the past weekend. 10 years.
Anyone else been to one? going to one? what did you think? Nail the prom queen? How about the chick from band?

When I returned to the general area where I went to HS after getting out of the USAF, I found I had very little in common with my classmates. I keep in touch with a few folks I went to HS with, as they are my core friends and we kept in touch while I was in the military.

I have absolutely no desire to spend time with people I didn't really know or care about when I was younger. Hell, I spend enough time with total stangers and an open bar at weddings, and that's all I see a HS reunion as being.

I skipped my 10, but went to my 20. It was kinda sad, all these guys pushing 40 trying to act like they're in high school again. I was sitting with one of the guys I used to hang out with a lot. All he wanted to talk about was what we did 20 years ago. I was thinking, "Heck, I've been trying to forget about that stuff for the last 20 years!" Most people wanted to talk about where we had been. I'd rather discuss where I'm at and where I'm going. I guess you really can't go back home again.

I have 4 more years to decide if I want to endure the 30. Yippee.

I went to my 10 and 20 year reunions. Waste of time and money. The people form HS that I care about I still see frequently.

I couldn't care less about reunions. I did go to my 5 year. What a joke. Everyone was trying to impress everyone else. At that point most of us weren't even out of college yet.

Drink at home. It's cheaper.

I have not, and will not, attend any HS reunion. In 2 years, it will be 20 for me, and I have not talked to anyone from my high school in years.

I do, however, regularly keep in contact with people from grad school. We get together periodically for adult beverages or golf or some such stuff.

Though I wasn't real active in HS, I really enjoyed the two I've been to. Have kept in touch with a few good friends since graduating, and it was fun to see a lot of old faces who are now really old. Kind of ironic that quite a few of the girls who were so hot in HS are now kind of haggard looking. Of course, same for the guys who were the studs back then; a lot of them are fat and bald. Missed my 25-year reunion since I wasn't in country, but I'm planning to go to the 30th. [:)]

Edited to add: My clique was the dirt bike crowd--the two-stroke misfits. Being somewhat out in the sticks, we couldn't wait for the end of the school day because that meant we could go riding! Did work as the yearbook photog my senior year though. Still, have no regrets about attending reunions and look forward to more; even if I didn't like everyone in HS, I got along with most.

I thought mine was pretty entertaining, and also used it as an excuse to visit my parents and friends that still live back home. Plus I got a new tattoo while I was home too.
Not knocking anyone, but how many of ya'll "hell no" guys were nerds in high school? I see alot of people post on here from time to time about what a hell HS was for them, and I'm wondering how many of ya'll are those same ones.
I really wanted to know if anyone had died or was in prison. Apparently alot of other folks thought that would be me, since when I asked alot of them told me so.
I've come along way since I was 18 and I guess in alot of ways I wanted to see how others had done.
There was this one guy that was a total freak in HS. He was there, still looked like a freak, but had a chick with him that looked like a stripper and was balls hot. I dunno, maybe he paid her.
There was also one girl there that was a bit of a bookworm in HS, but looke amazing now. After the party a few of us went swimming, and she put on a nice string bikini. Highlight of the weekend for me, haha.

Interesting point, Norman74. Like most high schools, mine was very clique oriented. We had the jocks, the brainy nerds, the band kid nerds, the cheerleaders, the dopers, the school politics kids, the punks, the loners, poor kids, rich kids and some that were too weird to classify.

My closest friends and I had our own little clique. The neat part was that we hung out with all the other cliques. The parties we threw where attended by representatives of all the other groups. If anything, we were more like the Animal House guys. [:D]

But for some reason, I just drifted away from most of those people. The ones I really care about are still in my life.

I attended my 10 year class reunion about a month ago. It truly sucked the big one. Like someone else said, I still see the people that I want to and the rest I couldn't give two shits about. The food was overpriced and was terrible. Most classmates were overweight and balding - not that I'm in peak physical condition but at least I didn't let myself go to complete hell. I'm pretty sure I won't be attending any more.

Went to the 10 year reunion pretty well stoned and was nearly the only one there not married. My old high school girlfriend and I had the sex we missed the first time. At the 20 year I was married and it was the last one I attended. Not sure if I'll ever go back to one. Maybe 50th. Not in touch with anyone at this point.

Not much had changed by the 10th, but by the 20th most of the men had gone bald, gray, or portley and many women who had seemed plain or immature in HS had blossomed nicely. I got a lot of positive flirtation vibes at the 20th and the 25th.

Another interesting reunion I attended a couple of years ago was a retirement party for my second-grade teacher. I was in her class of 1963. She taught the same grade at the same school for 42 years. That was as much fun as my own class reunion, better in some ways because there were some people who had been my nieghbors as a small child but never classmates. It was really a nice homecoming.

I wouldn't miss a class reunion for anything.

I have one coming up in August. Let's see:

A - $60 for a sketchy buffet at an even more sketchy Holiday Inn. Get to see how fat the cheerleaders and how bald the football players have gotten. Observe the mating habits of the American Whitebread Divorcee. Endure numerous solicitations for "outstanding marketing opportunities" from the chronically unemployed. Wonder why more of these buffoons have not been wiped out in drunk-driving incidents.

B - Go to the wedding of the daughter of one of my best friends from college. Small wedding, huge reception. Authentic Mexican and German food and drinks. Much dancing. Much music. Much fun.

I choose "B".

In '84, I went to my 15th with a woman built like Jessica Rabbit and dressed like a 2500/night hooker.

EVERY woman there looked at her with daggers coming out of their eyes, and EVERY guy there was sporting a diamond cutter.

I showed up seemingly PLASTERED, sort of like Dudley Moore in 'Arthur'.

She went around telling stories about how I'd found gold in the Klondike, lost it in a fishing deal and recouped my lossses by cheating the Indians out of some oil rights. That kind of stuff.

When guys asked me about her, I told them that I was going to keep her until I found another one better'n she was.

She was a pretty good actress, too. She didn't even bat an eye when she overheard me telling a couple guys: "She's pretty good. She can match or better anything I've ever seen in any pornographic movie, up to and including 'Deep Throat'!"

Funny part, is EVERYONE believed every bit of it.

God, that was fun!!!!!!!

When we returned to AK, she tended bar and told the story for years.

Our 10yr was ok.
We saw lots of old friends.
Found out one of the sweet little smart girls posed for Hustler.
Found out another was a transvestite.
And my wife and I won 4 or 5 awards between the 2 of us and none of them for the largest gut or most bald either.
Biggest gripe we had was the food sucked because it was actually just crackers and meat and cheese trays basically.

My thoughts exactly. I eventually married my high school sweetheart and have all but lost contact with the other 1% of the people I knew that were worth a shit.

Hell, I even SKIPPED my Graduation ceremony. Bunch of assholes voted that a "Suit and Tie must be worn under the cap & gown".....I had never worn a tie, and I didn't reckon I'd start then either.

I guess them folks thought they was better than us that couldn't And Wouldn't afford a suit and tie, but I reckon they shit out of a meat asshole like the rest of us in the end.

I went to my 10 year high school reunion. I enjoyed watching the prom queen, looking resplendent her cheap tight size 18 dress, sashay across the room towards her former boyfriend who, sporting a large over the belt beer gut, smoothed his unkempt beard with grease laden fingers as she approached. I almost choked when I heard him tell her she looked just like she had 10 years (and 3 kids) before.

It was amusing and somewhat sad to listen to the "in crowd" recount "the best years of their lives"...high school. In comparison, I had only just begun to live mine.

I took pleasure in re-introducing myself to several teachers who were there when we toured the school. Particularly the guidance counselor who had encouraged me to enroll in secretarial school so that I would be able to support myself in years ahead (should I not be able to snag myself a real winner of a husband). Thankfully, her "guidance" fell on deaf ears.

I hated high school and 98% of the idiots that were there. The other 2% were my friends and most of us are still in touch with each other. My wife and I were JrHigh/high school sweethearts and both attended and graduted the same year. She feels the same way.
Our 20 year reunion is this weekend and the only way I would go is with a couple dozen eggs. [devil]
The people putting it on are the same schmucks I have no interest in seeing, so fuck em.
Although, some of us may just crash their event just like we crashed their parties way back when. [:D]

My 10 year reunion is in July. I would rather stand down range holding a target for a shooter with parkinsons than go to a reunion.

School to me was like jail. I didn't like most kids there when I had to be around them, so I surelly won't go when I have a choice in the matter. I'm not into the trying to one up each other that I know that will go on. I have more money and belongings than most there. It'd not my think to rub other peoples noses in it though.

Went to part of my 10TH, and most of my 20TH. I actually had a good time. I aged better than most of the guys. At least I still have most of my hair, and sport a smaller beer belly than most of them. I did come in second place though for the most gray hair. Some of the ugly duckling chicks became real hotties, and the hotties really didn't age too well. It was my experience that the cliques had vanished, and I tried to talk to as many people as possible, regardless of how I got along with them during school. I was pleasantly surprised.

Went to 5, 10, 15 and have the 20 coming up in August. I will go there too. I have enjoyed each of them catching up with old friends that I have lost contact with and seeing where things are headed. As for the Prom queen, she ballooned massively. Makes me feel good that "pushing 40" I am still a nice lean 175# @5'10". Oh yeah, the big super jock showed at the 15 and he ballooned out too and was striking out trying to hit on every female there. Don't you just love it when payback comes around?

My fu$king class is so lame there isn't even going to BE any class reunions! We had one for the 10th (I told I'd go if they rescheduled it around a shuttle flight (Oviedo, FL, 1973) and I never heard from them again. Looking at the Oviedo website, they don't even show any class reunions for the '73 folks even though we're on our 30th now.

If there was one, I'd go about the time I sent all my guns to the VPC to be crushed. Like Never.

Wow, there is a lot of bitterness out there. I went to an all male high shool so maybe it wasn't as competitive as yours. I wasn't overly popular, but I had some good times. I still hang out with some of the guys from high school and I wouldn't have any problem attending my 20th.

Went to my 20th. Some were still A-holes, footbool team guys still remember their glory days, good looking chicks got babies and divorces, etc. A few were extremely rich, but most were average folks.

I got to see a few old friends for the first time again, good short visits.

I won't go again.

wow, and "romy and michelles high school reunion" is on tv right now

this would be my 5th reunion if we had such a thing, but ours start at 10yrs, so i've got another 5 to go. i went to a small school, so everybody knew everybody, there were cliques sure, but sometimes you were in more than one. i still keep in touch with most of my high school friends, the rest are doing everything from offshore drilling to overseas art school so it would be nice to see them all again.

i was in the redneck group, surprise, surprise, but had ties to the dopers, the jocks, the fashion followers, the bookworms, etc..... i loved HS.

Let's see...overpriced, crap food(I am a chef..it will REALLLY make me gag!), and a bunch people I found annoying the first time trying to relive "the best years of their lives"

That's about exactly how mine was...only not as much of our own parties, and I really didn't like that many people, they just liked us.
(I have only been out a couple years)I will go to a 10 year...and if I enjoy it I will try again later, there is a reason I left the first time.

My 20th was in 2000. Just to show how screwed up I am, I totally forgot about it. Last year, I got an e-mail from one of my old friends from HS, and he said he went, and it kind of sucked because the turnout was very low. It appears everyone is moving out of state! Swell.

I have no clue where/what our prom queen is up to. Last I heard, she turned into a lesbian.

Our super jock was actually a very humble, down to earth guy, who is now a Captain in the Army and is a tank commander over in Iraq. Don't think he'll make it to the 10yr. reunion at the end of this month, though.

I'll probably go w/ the family. Wife & kids & I can get down to see my parents again, and I'll see a few friends I keep in touch with, but the miles separate us. I have a feeling a lot of our class will have grown up (man, I certainly hope so!). We've already lost a couple classmates; one to cystic fibrosis, and another to a work accident (and he was a superjock that was down to earth, humble, everyone liked, etc.) We'll open our time capsule, so I'll get to laugh at myself and my 'plans' from 8th grade.

i went to a gun show instead of my 10year reunion [:D]
i didnt feel like paying 75 bucks to eat crappy food in the high skool gym (OH BOY!!), and talk to people who didnt give 2 shits about me in HS.
basicly HS sucked ass for me, got 8 more years before i gotta think about 20 year reunion, prolly wont go.

I dont know. I have a lot of unpleasant memories about high school just like most people. When I think about this person or that from high school, I think "What a dick that asshole was". But I went to my reunion anyway. Everybody got real drunk. Wasn't bad. Really, it was just socializing with people who I know, but haven't seen in a while. Like running into old classmates in the bar over summer.

Part of me wants to go part of me doesn`t. The part of me that does wants to see people I didn`t really hang out with but had fun in school. The part that doesn`t is cause I work a stupid overnight stock job and some of the idiots that went there. And the biggest reason I didn`t go is cause the school f@#*ed up the 5 year reunion (they didn`t have one, should have been last year). Nothing quite like the publik skool sistem!
Of course there was this girl I really liked but didn`t have the balls to ask out.....

The whole "I hated everyone then and I still hate them now 20 years later" is a little scary/pathetic. I mean come on. The best part is that you're letting people from 20 years ago influence you today, no matter how much you holler about hating them.

hey norman , i disagree, i dont let anyone influence me at all,i didnt like the ppl i went to hi-school with, my true friends im already staying in contact with,,so why would i want to see the dickheads that i couldnt stand in the first place,,to see if they changed,i dont give a rats ass. im not scared to go, its jus a waste of my time..
