The basic item of consumption by the VC/NVA, like their ARVN enemies and general population
of Southeast Asia, was rice. This was supplemented, particularly the mountainous regions where little rice was raised, with sweet potatoes, manioc and corn. Salt and "nuoc-mam" a pungent sauce made from fermented fish were the primary seasonings. [grenade] |

1- That is not a NVA pit helmet. 2- They do not have the luxury to eat Tomatoes Sardine. They eat rice, salt and dry fish. 3- Is that a U.S Colt .45? (They use Makarov). |

Don't knock nuoc-mam before you try it. It's really pretty good. If you're a first timer though, I'd recommend NOT smelling it before you try it.

(They use Makarov). the helmet is a jungle workshop Vietnamese made sun helmet, the Viet cong didnt use standard uniforms, they used what ever they could get. the canned fish is "not sardines" it is a popular canned salted fish w/black beans, also commonly eaten in Vietnam, this can was imported from China. yes that is a USGI 1911A1, the VC used captured US weapons all the time, or WWII weapons sent to Vietnam from China as military aid. the Makarov was not common during the Vietnam War, the Tokarev TT-33 or Chi Com T-51 or 54 was the standard VC/NVA sidearm, but they made use of any guns they could capture or make for themselves in jungle workshops. |

The Viet Cong are not a people worthy of the admiration of free people. Perhaps as guerrilla fighters they were tenacious and worthy of respect but they also murdered, tortured and terrorized their own people. They tortured and killed American POW's. Their countrymen continue to hold American servicemen captive. They are Godless, Communist heathens.
Does anyone have a photo depicting what the SS death camp guards ate? How about a meal photo from the Imperial Japanese soldiers who raped Nanking or the ones who marched thousands of Americans to death in the Philippines? They eat that garbage because that is all they deserve. |

Rice is grown in a major portion of South Vietnam mostly in the Mekong river Delta. Rice and Fish are the principal foods in the Vietnamese diet. [:)] |

Its been my experience when it comes to exotic food.
its best not to ask or think about what its made of. But rather to enjoy the taste of it (if possible). ohh and pass the fish sauce. |
