I think everyone on this forum should take a minute to thank God for the sacrifices brave men made on this date in 1944, at Normandy. Their sacrifice ensured the rights we have today, and their memory is why I fight to preserve them.

I called around to the retirement homes in the area until I found one who had a Normandy Vet.  I then thanked him for his service, and told him he was very appreciated.

Every time I looked at my watch today I thought of those that died for our freedom.

Same thing happened in my house this morning.  Then we watched the begining of SPR.  My 11 year old son developed a deep appreciation of the sacrifices made 59 years ago today.  Needless to say, "Shock and Awe" happened in our living room on a 36" TV and a pair of Bose 901's.  I stood my son in front of the TV and placed my M1 Garand in his hands for the full effect.  In time, I'm sure he will appreciate the sacrifices, large and small, that every American service member has made in war, and in peace, since our nations founding.
