I love Zaxby's Grilled Chicken sandwich and the crinkle cut fries. The salads are OK. The sandwiches on Texas Toast are too greasy for me.
We don't have Cane's here so I can't comment. |

So far, these places have been mentioned:
Raising Cane's Zaxby's Layne's (never heard of it) Popeye's (never been there... a new one was built right next to my local Raising Cane's) Foosackly's (never heard of it) Tenders (never heard of it... which one? There are 2 websites, looks like one is actually called PDQ) PDQ (never heard of it) Guthrie's (never heard of it) Chick-Fil-A (winning) Tenda Chick (never heard of it) Slim Chickens (never heard of it, but they appear to be in OK... I will try it) Bojangles (never heard of it or if I did, I don't remember) I'll also add that I've had Church's Chicken, Golden Chick, and KFC and both are unappealing. Chicken Express is pretty good though. There's also Jim's Famous Chicken, which I haven't tried. It has only 2 locations right now. |

Guthries There used to be one in Athens, right up from the big dorms on campus. It was the only place you could walk to for food (besides some shit take-out across the street - I forgot what it was, but shared a strip mall with a laundromat  ). After I left UGA, I would drive to Athens (an hour+ each way) for Guthries and a chocolate malt from The Grill.
Guthries was run by students and if you wanted a refill, you had to take your lazy ass behind the counter and get it. Wouldn't be surprised if the health code got them, or just unprofitability. The sauce was well know for its cleaning abilities - you'd take out the dirtiest penny you have, dab some sauce on both sides of one-half of the coin, and lay it on a napkin. By the time you left, half of that thing was as shiny as the day it left the mint.

Unimpressed with Raising Cane's.
I saw a Zaxby's on the north side of Houston, so I will have to try that the next time I drive through. |

Chicken express is gross. The batter is so light in color it's almost like the oil they use isnt hot enough. The gravy isnt that good either. I cant think of anything spectacular about it. I have lived in Oklahoma most my life so ive had it quite a few times.

Years ago, one of my buddies worked at Guthrie's on the fryer. He got burns on his arms which blistered in long streaks. At some point during one of his shifts preparing tenders, he realized that large pieces of his skin had sloughed off into the food. If you think Raising Cane's is good, it would be karmic justice for you to be served those pus-and-skin covered chicken fingers from the 1990s.
