”? I’ve always been fascinated by history and shooting; where else do the two meet so perfectly? Whether I’m shooting my service rifle in a LEG match, M1 in a Garand match, or a bolt gun at 1000yds, its just magical.
I get my sight picture lined up and think of those who have fired at that same target over the last 100 years; from my grandfather to Carlos Hathcock.
All the elements there are memorable, the wind off the lake, the 90+ degree heat with no shade, the sudden rain, or hearing the bullets pop a foot over your head while working the pits. It’s something I wish more people would experience.
Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I think marksmanship is skill that doesn’t hold the prominence it used to. You can add as many gadgets to your firearm as you want, but it all comes down to the fundamentals of true marksmanship.
