Good, I would have hated to have taken the Iraqi's side in this. I'm glad I have been spared the moral conundrum. The RKBA isn't an American right, its a human right.

I think that disarming an enemy population is perfectly all right in many circumstances. This is not one of them. We certainly cannot provide adequate protection for the average Iraqi and there are still Bathists running around, not to mention criminals, mobs etc.

Right now the restricted weapons are:
Crew-served weapons, including machine guns RPGs Anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons Indirect fire weapons (mortars, grenade launchers, artillery) Automatic rifles up to 7.62 caliber are OK to possess. They've got it better than we do. |

However they did not change the rules because it was right, or constitutional or even to be nice and let them protect themselves. The only reason they changed the rules is because it would have been totally impossible to round them all up, it would have caused to many casualities and they are having a public image problem now.

Sherrick, sounds familiar doesn't it? Maybe Feinstein has some clout over there. "I'd like to ban all guns but I just couldn't get the votes..."

I wonder if we can use this. The people of a former enemy nation have more RKBA rights than the occpying force's nation. There has to be a way to use this to our advantage, especially when crime drops and the Iraqi people start rounding up the badguys.
