I actually shot a 30-06 bolt-action when I was 3yrs old!!(I was,and still am a big kid!)But I got my first .22rifle when I was 7yrs old, my first handgun(44mag Ruger Super Blackhawk)when I was 14yrs old.
Every kid in my highschool with a pickup had at least one gun in the rack,and probably several behind the seat! GOD,those were the days!!! |

First gun I ever fired (not counting BB guns) was an M16A1 in basic training in 1988. The first gun I ever owned was an M1A1 in 1990.

Remignton Viper .22cal
I was in love when I saw it at the Wal-Mart at age 12 (11 years ago). It was black, semi-auto and had a detach magazine!! I saved up for it and brought it home a month later. |

Model 1916 Spanish Mauser in 308 Winchester. Great weapon for just plain destroying stuff.
$89 at F.W. Woolworth's about 20 years ago, followed closely by a string of additional firearms that continues unabated. Having a much higher income makes the collection get better faster. I'm completely hooked. |

I never owned a gun until about 1998. There was never a need since my father had a closet filled with riles when I was growing up.
When I moved out of NYC, I finally got around to getting my own firearms. My first rifle was a Bushmaster AK Shorty with A1 sights. My first pistol was a Walter P99 in 9mm. |

Colt series 80 1911 Combat Commander. Bought it at a "Gun Show" shortly after my 16th birthday.
Still havent killed anything other than paper with it. I have always worked hard for my money and have great parents. |

My parents gave me a .22 rifle and a 20 ga. shotgun as Christmas presents but the first gun I actually bought for myself was a Winchester model 12, 20 gauge. I bought it new in 1958 from a local wholesale only supply company for $75.00. Those were the good old days . . . no paperwork.
For some reason I felt at the time that I could'nt hit shit with it so I traded it off. |

Winchester 1200 12GA., won it it on a football board at age 11. Shot a hole in my bedroom wall (exterior wall) at age 12. Killed my first deer with it at age 12.

First gun I ever fired was a Remington 600 in 6mm. It needs a new stock now. It was my dad's first deer rifle, and my first deer rifle (although I haven't managed to kill a damn thing with it). Shoot's great. Good "kid" gun since you can drop a deer with it, but has no kick.
The first gun I ever bought and paid for myself (and as the older gentleman standing outside the gun store said as I bounced out the door with my personally bought and paid for USP .45 said "It means more when you pay for it yourself.") was my Armalite AR-180B. |

In 1984 my first was a Ruger Mini 14. Still have it, and the barrel is about shot out.
Only took 19 years to find decent hi-cap mags for it. Now that I have reliable hi-caps, I was thinking about taking it to Accuracy Systems in Aroura CO and having it re-barrelled and rebedded. It will cost more than I paid for it, but I still love that little plinker!!! |

My first was a Mossberg 500 20 gauge I was given for Christmas in 1981. I started hunting as soon as I turned 12 in Jan of 1982 with that shotgun. The following year was a sporterized Springfield 03A3.
I still have both guns, as well the Mossberg 46B .22 rifle that I learned to shoot with at the age of 8. I finally managed to con that one off of my Dad a few years ago. |

My first gun was/is my Sig P226 9mm - I love that thing. Bought it from a cop who was dumping his non-duty weapons due to a new baby in the family. My only regret was not having enough money to pick up the P220 .45 he was selling, as well.

My first [i]real[/i] gun was a Remmy 870 that my Dad gave me on Christmas 1986. He restocked it with a beautiful piece of walnut (I'll have to post a pic when I get a chance). Still have it, of course.
I think he just got tired of me always borrowing one of his shotguns when I'd ditch school and go trap shooting. [;)] |

1970 S&W model 36, Cheif Special, 2", .38 spl. 5 shot, square butt.
Used it as a backup and off duty gun during my time on the Metro Wash. DC Police Dept. Still have it and wife now carries it. Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.[8D] |

Beretta 92 FS I got it about the time Lethal Weapon came out.
I still have it and shoot the crap out of it often. Nothing has ever broken, the finish is great, it shoots great, never jams. I love it. Just don't like the caliber anymore. |

No. I Mark III Lee Enfield .303 paid about $40.00 for it it was made in 1912 and is still a good shooter. I've often wondered about the hands that gun has been in throughout the last 91 years and two world wars.

Winchester M1 Garand blue sky import that I bought back in '88 for $200. I had it rebarrelled by SA Inc with a commercial barrel. In a moment of weakness, I sold it to my brother back in '91, he still has it. It's a pretty good shooter.

Walther P99 Military/.40S&W. August 1, 2002.
Wasn't sure when/if I'd get another gun so spent a lot of time researching the best all around price/performance/reliability weapon I could find suitable for HD, CCW and range. The bug bit, hard. Now 10 months later the Walther has a lot of company in the safe. 5 more handguns, 5 rifles and a shotgun. |

My parents are pretty much anti-gun. Needless to say, My very first "gun," which was a BB/pellet Daisy, was obtained when I was about 10, but had to be kept at a friend's house...Interesting story about how I got it...I was at a friend's house and was just about to go home. He begged me to stay, but I wanted to go home and eat. Anyways, in desperation, he finally said, "If you leave I'll shoot you with my bow and arrow!" So, I started walking off, and when I was about 75 yards or so away, I felt the arrow hit me in the back of the elbow!! Damn that hurt! Luckily it was a field tip shot from a shitty little toy fiberglass bow meant to shoot those little arrows with suction cups. To this day I don't know how he hit me, it was a 1,000,000 to 1 shot for the circumstances. First long gun was a Ruger 10/22 in stainless, and first pistol was a Beretta 92F/S Centurion; both obtained immediately after I turned 18! =)

beretta 92fs stainless bought riiiiiight before the ban so i could get the evil hi-caps
i was 14, worked all summer, made about 900 dollars, 675 of which went to buying this gun, which of course is in my dads name. i have since sold the gun.................for 400 bucks, but dont jump my ass just yet. i sold it to my dad under the condition that he would not shoot it and instead it would be my sons when he is old enough. he was less than a year old then, so thats his first gun too. |

H&R Topper single shot .410 and a Sears single shot .22 both given to me around 1967 or so. All three of my kids shot them and now that they have graduated to M1 Carbines (Daughter) and Garands, M1A's and AR's (sons) they are mine again. They will be used again to train the third generation of Rocketmen when the time comes.

Winchester .22 S/L/LR bolt action single shot. I don't remember the model number. Dad gave it to me in 1971. When my parents got divorced, Dad broke into the house and stole it along with a few other items. He never admitted it but I knew he did it. Officially we chalked it up to a burglary.

My first gun that was given to me was a Savage Model 99 in .243. My grandfather gave me the gun on my 11th or 12th birthday and had the buttstock shortened to fit me. I still have it, it's a great gun. This was during the early 80's.
the first one that I bought for myself was a 12 guage mossburg 500 that had the dual(18in and 26?in) barrels and the pistolgrip kit. I carried that gun for quite a few years behind the seat in my truck while still in high school. It was a Just-In-Case gun. I was a late night resteraunt worker in San Antonio when all of the resteraunt robberies/killings were going on. Karl EDITED to clarify time frame, I'm 34 going on 50 now. |

the first gun I ever bought all by myself was a
WWII British Enfield NO. 4 rifle caliber .303 mfg. in 1943, I tried adjusting the sights but I couldnt hit anything with it? I ended up selling it to a Enfield dealer at the gunshow for $20 less than what I originally paid for it so it wasnt any big loss, plus .303 ammo was scarce athe the time, I also got a WWII 98K 8mm mauser and I liked the mauser much better than the Enfield! it shot much better. |

First shot: .22LR JCHiggins/Sears bolt action and a 16 guage model 12 on the same day when I was 5. Same gun my dad leanred on, same gun I taught my son on.
First owned: Remington 870LW 20 guage for Christmas when I was 10. First bought: IIRC it was a Ruger 10/22 when I was 15 or so. My brother has it now and it is grandfathered as a preban. I'll buy it back if I get the chance. |
