When my kids were younger, the school they attended had firemen come into their school and have them draw a "layout" of their home and to explain how they would escape in a fire. Sounds harmless, right? The teacher kept them and gave them to the DARE officer..Needless to say I had a fit...I got the picture back. They wouldn't tell me why the DARE officer needed the pictures..hmmm (as if I didn't know)...And DON'T get me started on the DARE program..Turns your kids into snitches. I know parents that refuse to let their kids participate in that program.
I really wish when Officer Friendly is giving his "it's ok to turn in your parents" speech, I could be standing there telling the kids "yeah, if you do you'll go to a foster home and you'll never see mommy and daddy again. And the foster parents will probably beat you and neglect you because a majority of them are only in it for the money and could care less about you"... I'm not talking about ALL foster parents, just most of them.

Good post, If you haven't had this speech with you kid you are an idiot.
We have an excellent relationship with our kid and over the years he's come home with some stories that just freaked us out. The teachers pry into your personal lives through your children on a variety of subjects not just guns or drugs.
One day the teacher asked the class "What do your parenst fight over?"
My son said, "Uh, they don't fight."
He was told he had to answer or get a failing grade and that it was a test.
"OK." he says "What resturant they go to dinner to."
My nephew is a little shit. After being caught with drugs and failing scores, his dad grounded him and in a heated argument the boy pushed his dad. The dad pushed back. There were no injuries of any sort. The little shit went to school and told his side of the story, slanted of course. My brother in law spent 6 moths in family counciling or face criminal charges.
It's a shame and a heavy burden for a small child to bare but he or she should know that one out of the way word and the whole family is in a world of shit.
Sad times we live in.
In my experience, it is only the ones like this guy who really was doing something bad you hear about. The average family that gets their lives invaded by the system, never hits the news.
