Cyber "Sports Car" SHOW!      (WARNING: PICS)
Post your pics of your sports cars!  (Please use hot link if the pic is too large.)

from Dictionary.com
SPORTS CAR
1. An automobile equipped for racing, especially an aerodynamically shaped one-passenger or two-passenger vehicle having a low center of gravity and steering and suspension designed for [red]precise control[/red] at high speeds.
2. A small low car with a high-powered engine; usually seats two persons.

My 1995 convertible black M6 T/A which handles nicely and kicks some ass (but by no means a trailer queen) is a sports car.  Although it can seat 4 people, it usually seats one or two.  I do have a speedster tonneau for it. [:)]

(I found the pics with the tonneau, but I do not have a scanner, and the 4th gen appearance guide web page no longer has my pic on there....I know, I know.....will post pics soon)

Yeah...a worthless post in a worthless thread.
Why do you bother posting here then?  To increase your post count?
I am sure there are a lot more worthless threads.  Why don't you go post that same message on all those threads too?

Actually that post was sarcasm.  The reason I posted that remark was because I emphasized post pics of "your" car.
But then I realized it was a planned purchase, so I retracted it.
btw: If this thread is so worthless why are you still on it?

superalpa: my estimates are around 400-420 rwhp with about 14 pounds of boost. Ive seen similar combos do 440 with 15 pounds. Without the supercharger though I should be right around 260 rwhp. If you have an LT1 or LS1 your engine bay is more cramped than mine.

Your engine bay seems tight, but that might be camera perspective.  I am running NA so I don't have turbo or supercharger filling up the bay.
I have estimated 400hp at the crank from factory spec, but never cared to dyno it....I know it stomps many vettes and various LS1s, but it isn't king of the road, and at 9mpg it is uneconomical for my daily driver.
Prior to the new engine+headers, it was putting out about 290hp/310tq to the wheels.  Now I would guess around 350hp to the wheels.
I can do a third gear scratch with Michelin Pilot XGTZ4s.

It is a chick magnet too...being a convertible, black, black top, and graphite interior.

I wouldn't mind having it all restored back to stock.  It is super expensive to fix.  ($3200 maintenance within the last 2 months!)
The car looks bad ass.  I used to take it to many car show with the local DFW car club.  It is 8.5yrs old.  Every time it is at the shop, they add a few more scratches on the fenders.
I have had teh front repainted once, and the entire car is in EXCELLENT condition most of the time.  The ragtop, however, is degrading.  It is the original top, and the cosmetic seam stitcing is falling apart, yet it still holds out water, etc....purely cosmetic....but I have the speedster tonneau cover anyways.

I have a 1995 T/A Convertible.

In 2001 my engine failed because the oil change place was putting the little firebird filter on there instead of the HUGE AC DELCO one.  Well....It would not hold pressure, and oil would blast out and all over the engine....if the engine doesn't get oil, you know the rest of the story....so I had a friend, who builds race cars, install a new engine for me.  It was a rebuild and his other friend did that.  Total was $6k+tax installed with new parts (distributor, water pump, radiator, etc).  WITH FULL WARRANTY for 3yrs/36k miles
Not bad, conisidering everyone else wanted to put a rebuild in for $10k for just the engine.
I told him I wouldn't care what the power output was, as long as I could cruise with it.  He offered 700rwhp, but said I would only be able to trailer it to the strip and would only get like 1500miles out of the engine.  I told him that I have a convertible, and chicks like to cruise.  It is all about the chicks, right?  So even if it were stock, I would be happy.  The LT1 rebuild was 3" wider than the original.  You can tell the heads were different.  Supposedly this "pot-luck" engine had CNC ported heads and other goodies.  He estimated 400rwhp, but I think he meant 350rwhp = 400fwhp.
I need to change the radiator because I do not get enough cooling during the summer, especially in traffic.  The cooling system does check out okay, there are no problems with it.

The one thing I did not do was change the INTAKE.  It is not super-critical, but it bothers me that if I have an engine similar to an LT4, that I have a small throttle body and LT1 intake.
I have headers and an SLP clutch with pressure plate.  I love the 30% extra pressure!!!  The clutch pedal retracts with a lot of force.  It has a very rapid-response.  I also had them toss in a Hurst shifter (which really is not a performance mod).
Being that it is a convertible, it is very heavy, and the center of gravity is superior to the hatchbacks.  This means I do not have to lower it, but it handles in autocross pretty well, although I hate replacing the tires and brake pads.  And I hate brake fade.  I need a power steering cooler(very easy to do) and a brake fluid cooler(very hard to do).  I upgraded to DOT4 fluid, but I would like to flush and put in MOTUL.

I have an engine bay brace that almost needs to be removed (must jack up car and release bolts on strut tower) every time I work on it!

But - it made the car so much stiffer.  It was an amazing handling transformation.

One day I found a great deal on some Billstein shock/struts where the guy put a deposit down, but never came to get them.  I just happen to ask about them and wasn't really interested in buyin at the time, since mine were fine, but when the guy said $384 installed (all 4s) I couldn't resist.  I did not notice any change, but my friend said he noticed.
I know a few other people who were looking for those and they were quoted >$800.

Interesting, can't wait to see your comment to this.....

This is NOT my car, however this is a stock class IIRC...rollcage, wheels and that is about it for mods.  Maybe some interior -- lightening.

So here is mine....

The Lancer EVO and WRX are purpose built sports cars...the upper levels of the sport include carbon fiber undercarriage pans, full rollcages, sequential gearboxs, and 400hp modified closed block motors to run upwards of 20psi.

What is your def of a sports car if an EVO is not?

sporty? perhaps.

So what is a sports car then??  Hmmm? A WRC Impreza?

Maybe a C5R since you are in the heartland -- GM power baby....:

Maybe you're a purist from the fatherland:

Oh, I know....you like concepts:

Or maybe unavailable in the US:

Or maybe factory sponsored race cars:

Cars that race in sport are sports cars.  Every WRC car starts life as the same shell as it's donor car.  If I had the time and money to convert my WRX to a WRC car, well guess what?  I'd have a 4 door sports car.  As it is, it's close enough.

So CB, what is a sports car???  Hmmm???  A Miata?  A Mercury Capri?
