Beta=100rnds, 4x30=120. I do not know about you guys but in a hostile situation,... not just playing around, or *showing off=(COOLFACTOR), I'd rather have the 4/30's as actual firepower. How about you?

I dont know about that........the cool factor might come into play when your enemy gets a look at the beta mag and wishes that he had one......

Depends on the situation.
Are you dug in?
Are you on the move?
How many opfor are there?
Depending on how close they are you would need to consider the reloading time saved by the Beta-C as well.
But all said and done I would definately prefer the Beta-C for its cool factor and capacity and if I got tired of it imagine all the 30rd mags you can buy if you ever sell the beta-c.
Plus the Beta-c would piss off more liberals.

I really don't see being overrun by pagans in the second it takes me to switch mags. If that is the case, the Beta won't save my ass anyway.

i have heard to many reports of broken betas after being dropped. not to mention the weight hanging on the rifle.

... Cool factor aside, I'm [u]MUCH[/u] more comfortable with the weight distribution and balance of an old fashioned 30/USGI.

... It's like second nature deploying them.

simple honest answer....Both, start with the beta than go to the 30's. The more time I can spend shooting without having to reload the better.

Id go with the 30s

If you have a mag malfunction, ya got three more, and it gives the rifle a slimmer profile, easier to handle

The 30's are for after the Beta is empty. But seriously folks, the Beta isn't designed to replace 30 rounders. It's for use in LMG's.

I don't have a LMG, I got mine to piss off Chuck and Di.

Actually, I'm going to buck the trend and go with a Beta...

If you've lubed it right, there's no such thing as a jam. After 30 rounds, I'll be kind and say it's 4 seconds to eject mag, rip new one from pouch, seat in rifle, and close bolt. If you have a magpul/paracord and duct tape, lower it to 3. This is if the pouch is already open. That's at least 3 seconds that an enemy can pop up and take their shot, while you're behind cover or concealment. 3-4 seconds is a pretty long time when someone's shooting at you.

I'd rather swallow the 20 rounds and save that 15 seconds. I've dropped mine (not fully loaded), no breakage, and it functioned fine. Ok, so it wasn't fully loaded and it wasn't on concrete, but...

You can also get prone easier with a Beta. Prone + more ammo than a 30 (or 20) = major good vibes. Especially if you're in a fixed position with a good field of view and fire.

The heavier weight, for me, also aids in keeping the muzzle down.

Then again, I am not privy to FA stuff, so..[:(]

IMO, IMO alone..

For anything other then a fixed barricaded position the 4x 30 mags will do me fine. I bought my Beta, because the price could not be beat.

I know this isn't part of the question, but if the deciding issue were cost, a person could buy 35 or so USGI 30's for the same price as a Beta C-Mag and still have enough left over for a cold drink. I'd go that route, 35 mags will hold over a case of ammunition.

Hands down, 4x30's.

Slimmer profile, greater manuverability, less weight, Beta's rattle really bad, and if you drop them loaded on a hard surface, they will break.

In all seriousness, in my gear I have 10 20's in GI pouches (5 each) plus one for the rifle and one in the stock pouch.

I am small framed, and the extra couple inches I can get down on the ground makes a huge difference in both the size of the target I present and my comfort and ease of shooting and manuvering the weapon to engage targets off to the side.

So I would have to say 5 20's to fit into your scope.

No choice there at all. Not only do you have 20 more rounds, but in the event of mag failure, you still have 3 left. With the beta mag, failure = oh, oh...... start throwing shit at 'em!
