Robert Earl Keen just got outdone on his own song by a guy named Brandon Jenkins.  I know this is a few years old, but I've been racking my head today trying to find this version and wanted to share.  I kept thinking REK covered this song from somebody who sung it in the 70s or something.  No, this guy just killed it.

vs the REK version that sounds more like a Dave Mathews song

well, OP, we just gonna have to disagree on this one.

eta: on a side note, though.......i just got turned onto this guy, Scott Biram...apparenlty he's from down my way, i've never heard him..

Brandon and REK know each other.

I guarantee Brandon looks at REK as a hero.

I can imagine.  Nothing against REK, he's a great artist, but in my humble opinion Brandon knocked it out of the ballpark with this cover.

Who the hell is REK, or the other guy for that matter? Are normal people supposed to know who these two guys are? The songs were decent, but OP make sit sound like these guys are the second coming or something.

The majority of the Undone album was done very well. It is a tribute album of people covering REK songs. Chris Knight did an awesome version of Undone.

Location: Maryland.  Your ignorance of his music is understandable, just like I don't know dick about crabcakes.

REK is a Texas Country musician.

you do realize that Brandon Jenkins did this cover at a tribute concert to REK, right?  because basically Jenkins has REK to thank for the texas music scene as it exists today that allows him to make a living playing his music.   and that the album has been out for several years now?

Okay I'm being confusing I guess. I was talking about Chris Ledoux and others that kept Texas music going during the 80's and 90's.
